Ok .. So lets run this past you all..

Ive read there is no point having a cat which flows more than your exhaust because it enters and it cant exit at the speed it flows through anyway. True for False?

Im looking at a X force cat.. about $180 from just jap. or a BATMBL high flow 5" wide body magic cat or whatever for $360..

The CFM difference is 150ish cfm but the cost is about $200 different, so how do I justify buying such a expensive cat.

- Yes im looking for an excuse to spend money. Ive heard x force are crap cats can anyone confirm?

Ive got a 3.5" Exhaust Kikomoto(best one avaliable), split dumps 3", and looking for the cat obviously, 4.5" Cannon..

Who can help?

if you have a 3.5 inch exhaust, then the cat is probably going to be the biggest restriction. ie a high flowing cat wont be wasted on your setup.

my personal opinion on the xforce ceramic cheapie: i didnt like it. it seemed to cause turbulence or something. introduced crazy drone too, on my system anyway. i took it off.

Thanks for your help, Maybe the Bos imports is better then. It is recommended alot so I guess its a viable option.

My cat at present is only 2.5" btw lol Looks quite funny looking at the pipe size difference.

I did do a search btw guys but no one actually gave any deffinative answers in the posts/threads I looked at.

I guess the tip is buy the expensive one :) What about a nismo or sard etc option?

If your looking for an excuse to spend money, then dont grab the X-Force one.

Grab one from BOS Imports or SMB

The SMB ones at least are known to go on some fairy quick rota's and if it can survive the exhaust temp of them, it will suit your civilized RB just fine. I see it as a do it once, done right thing.

But would the xforce be a waste of time on a mild power setup? It wouldn't reduce performance on a close to stock setup, right?

What power rating would the X be good up to??? I'm aiming for 200rwkW roughly. Would this cheaper option be bad for someone in my position?? Considering the rest of the exhaust was ur average just jap quality stuff too.

even a stock cat will see you thru to 200kw, but is it performing as well as it can? remember, the cat will most likely be the limiting factor in your exhaust.

like i said, i'm sure there are many using the ceramic xforce without issue, but i personally didnt like it. when the guys on here told me to pay more for a better cat, i said pffft. now i'm getting a better cat lol.

dont mean to hi-jack, are the r32 and r33 cats interchangable? both original and after market?

yes they are interchangable.

I got 240rwkw out of a std [well ADR] cat.

I got a BOS, looked at the Metal Cat, but they were approx. $150 dearer. Plus BOS have a very good flow rate. Metal Cat brag that they are all stainless, not sure if BOS are, but probably still last a long time.

just some more info for you

i fitted a nice highflow stainless internal cat yesterday.

its 50,000 times better than the xforce highflow ceramic.

seriously, more response, more power everwhere. although i did get a retune and new dump.

but my tuner agreed, the cat made a big difference.

speaking of cats. Has anyone tried the apexi hi flow cat advertised on nengun.com?? I've gone through 3 metal cats (or cheap chinese rip offs with badge on it) and am looking for different brands.

if you're talking about the catco metalcat, i'm not surpirsed. have heard bad things about them, and have seen 2 with melted internals recently.
