Strange Water Leak From Rear Of Car

Had something a bit weird happen today...went and put petrol in the car and noticed fluid dripping from under the driver side rear guard (after filling)...first thought was fuel but it was water...dripped for quite a long time(about 10 minutes) and then seemed to stop. I revisited the fluid reservoir inside the rear on the drivers side but even though i forget what its for (Attessa I think..someone refresh me on this please)..but I am sure its not water any way.

My only other thought is that... it did rain over the last day or so and maybe water was sitting somewhere... and filling up the tank somehow (the weight) dis logged some stored water!....any thoughs guys..

hey bud does your stagea have sun roofs,if so its prob the drains for them as they go all the way to the rear and come out right near the fuel filler . hope this helps .

I also filled up last week and parked it shortly after, later that day i noticed a puddle behind the RR tyre, but mine was fuel, must have expanded in the sun and gone out the overflow, at first I thought I had a leaky tank. Cant explain the water though, no water sources around there.

Yes, the resivioir is for the ATESSA fluid, but it is ATF that goes in there.

As for the water leak, just make sure its water, I would have said fuel overflow as well.

bernardshorty good call it is almost certainly the sunroof rear drain.

do you know where the front drain (passenger side) comes out? mine is blocked and makes the car leak

Good theory but no sun roof in mine..it is due for a service so I will check it on the hoist while its up there soon..

I am sure the leak is from the water washer and the pipe that brings water to the rear wiper.I used the front washer and then noticed the leak again..should be an easy fix.

hey duncan,i think the passanger one comes out the front inner guard. if not it comes out behind the storage container in left rear of the car easyest way is to spray soapy water down the top and use an air blower,you will soon see as it bubbles madly where it comes out hope this helps mate.

I really expected it to be from the water washer ...but when I went to fill it up...it was virtually full...had a look under the area where the leak was coming from and can only see what looks like the fuel filler overflow...I am starting to think it was just some residual water sitting somewhere and when I filled the tank up the weight made it come out....has not been leaking since.
