is it? I am aware of thinner wheel 45 instead of original size 50. It may be totally offset from orginal tyre but just minor affect on the speed...

I though the original tyres are 215/55-17? if so a 235/50-17 will be the closest overall diameter.

A 235/45-17 tyre will put your speedo and odo out by about 4%

+1 yup wot he said. So when your speedo reads100kph you're actually only travelling at 96.3kph. On the bright side that's in your favour when going thru a multinova and you'll clock up less K's on the odo than you will actually do

So if speedo reads 100kph and actually travelling at 96.3kph wont that mean that odometer reading of 100km will actually be only 96.3km travelled and hence will clock up 4% more kms than the odometer reads????

FIXED.

but yup you're right sorry my bad..............DOWNSIDE you'll clock up more K's on the odo than you've actually done.

Hey guys just my two cents, i run achilles on my V35 (sedan) 245/35r20, for the price they are they are awesome tyres done 20000 on them daily driving (i drive pretty hard on em too) got at least another 30000 left in them and and they stick like glue and have like no road noise. Also i better mention that we at bridgestone have just launched 2 new tyre ranges the MY01 and the Turanza serenity, but i cant vouch for them personally yet as i havent even seen them yet because we only released them on the 3rd of this month

Hi Guys, I had one of my front tyres punctured (Bridgestone Potenza) and need a new tyre to replace that without having to spend too much. I have been quoted Sumitomo (HTR I think) $220 and Hankook K115 $190 fitted and balanced.

Any thoughts on that anyone?

By law your tyres must be rated to do a sustained speed equal to your car's top speed, regardless of whether that speed is legal or not.

I'd get that stuff right, as cops check that data when considering whether to defect your tyres as roadworthy or not.

What a load of rubbish.

The only legal requirements for tyre fitting are that the speed rating of Australian passenger cars be rated S or better and that the load index of the tyres meet or exceed the manufactures spec found on the tyre placard in the drivers door. There are other rules like tyre cannot ride outside of the body etc but basically if you meet or exceed the placard you are good to go.

Sorry to hijack the thread but is it possible to get the speedo calibrated that it shows the correct speed?
