Recommended Posts

something has to be done to stop these guys.

it seems all the cars they go for have no pillar which is joined onto the door. something strange.

keep them locked up guys.

but good work on scanning in the article

ah so it is... cheers for the headsup.

Damn, i hope all these thefts don't cause our insurance premiums to shoot up next year. :)

Considering theft risk is a major determinant of insurance premium, I'd say you can probably count on it.

Although, it depends how many of these stolen cars HAVE insurance, and how many actually make claims.

chops is right ive gone from a $770/yr to about $150 dearer and 4g cheaper agreed value  not happy Jan

they tell me due to the amount of claims being made on skylines which i think is BS cause not all claims not even 10% of claims would of been insured with aforementioned insurer

i guesstimate this due to most people just accepting just cars as being good insurer

Well... Justcar has lower requirements for cover than shannons and have less options.... thats why they generally have a 'take it or leave it' deal going on, where as shannons will bend over backwards for you if you meet their criteria (ie very clean driving record)...

Im with Justcar at the moment but will be going with Shannons next year (when my 2001 speeding fine isnt counted)...

Makes me wonder tho if we should organize an SAU 'badging' day where we let the cops tag the inside of our cars in a few diff pts. Bodykit, Engine, Chassis.... Course we'd be wanting some sorta guarantee that we wouldnt be defected (innocent look).... hrm I can dream cant I?

Otherwise everyone gets a grp deal on a nice 3 stage immob+alarm with GPS tracking and GSM/SMS notification and shutdown...

Oh and some nice digital cell 2 way encrypted radios so we can co-ordinate rendition, extraction and ultimately a painful interrogation for these nubs that keep stealing our rides. I got a really hungry kelpie for anyone who wants some >:action-smiley-069: (NO! I do NOT seriously encourage kidnapping a dismembering car thieves.... Do I?.... hrm)

-D

im not with just cars and bah to shannons they didnt want to know me cause my car isnt behind a lock up garage ... well if i had a lock up garage you almost wouldnt need insurance (apart from the accident cover :))

im with famous and my first year with them i was covered for $20,700 and drops to $16,000 they recon my car is worth 9g and 16g is a good agreed value

you tell me who the criminal is last year administrations fee $50 this year $150 how on earth does it jump up 150%

    • I have an Elite 2500, honestly most of this has been a lot of smaller tasks chasing little details and a whole lot of life getting in the way of bigger projects. I don't mind too much looking at a spectrograph vs having audio knock ears.
    • Nah nah nah nah. Don't do it. It's not all about the full throttle power delivery. The main "street fun" and drivability gains from smaller rear (in this case) is how you will have boost available from a low rpm when yo just roll onto the throttle. Think jinking in and out of traffic, coming out of roundabouts, etc etc, where you just want to roll onto the throttle a little and have the spooly noise from ~2000rpm and a swell of torque. More of what you've already achieved by going to 2.5. And then, towards the tail end of 2025 you can pull the turbo 4 out and put in a V8 like we originally suggested. :P
    • Cheers for the info mate, I'm old too, 60 years old next May, so a more linear delivery of the 0.86 would be better as baking tyres and snapping heads isn't on the cards for me or the car I assume a more linear power delivery would be better for engine and drivetrain reliability as well, IRT the torque load at lower RPM???, as well as lower EGT's???, if my understanding of that is correct, have I got that right??? I've only got a really basic understanding of turbo sizing and all there characteristics  Cheers for the useful information
    • What kind of power delivery are you after? If it's nice and linear, the 0.86 would be better. If you're after bake tyres and head snaps on boost the 0.64 would be fun. I'm boring and old, so linear power is preferred. Lately I've been watching videos on Z06 Corvettes and super charged Mustangs....
    • I’d go the smaller rear just because you’re staying on 98, if e85 I’d go the bigger one
