Hey ppls,

Setting up an SAU/SA club with a couple of other keen SA/SAUers has been niggling at me for quite some time.

For those that are not familiar with the other state SAU club events check out their packed year.

We don't have to have a year as packed as the above 2 event calendars but we would still have the usual:

Motorkhanas, Mallala race/practice days, AIR drag days (When it opens up), driver training days, social events, annual dyno day etc

Mallala and motorkhana race practice days don't need to be all out; if you wish, take corners hard but take it easy on the straights so you don't have to spend silly amounts on repairs, tyres and brakes.

An SAU/SA club like any other club does require one to become a financial member, what the costs involved are I have yet to find out.

I/we are currently talking with another states club to find out the ins and outs.

Its all about enjoying our cars for what they were designed for in a safe environment.

Please post your thoughts and interest.

Sounds great to me! I would be more inclined to get my backside into gear to get the car track ready if I knew there were set SAU days for motorkana etc. I would be happy to help out where I can, but wouldn't commit to being on the committee. I have been a member of another car club for 10 years now, and due for a break from committee duties (7/10 years).

I'm keen Mr Cubes!!

Also peoiples you wouldn't need to enter/do everything, otherwise you'd be broke and sick of seeing everyone so much......lol BUT the more the merrier of course!

Cubes would this be an area of the SA section that not everyone can enter, because i'm assuming this will be a paying club, just like Sporting Car Club styles! as in you pay a membership and so on, and extra to get CAMS licence and so on! I do belive VIC and NSW are CAMS affiliated!!

Sounds good to me! didn't seem as there would be enough interest a while back, but now there seems to be a few more members, which is good!

If SA became an incorporated club that would be great. This has also been something I've discussed with the other state club members/executives for awhile & they seem to think we are pretty much there & was just a matter of time of getting the numbers & ongoing interest. So, I'm all for it Cubes.

Yes; just like the other states. :)

Exactly. Fingers crossed we can get something going this time around.

I'm definitely in. If we could get it as a CAMS affliated club, that would just be grande. We really need to start using our skylines like they're supposed to be used! :)

I think we should start it off by properly organising a time for everyone to just go out to a normal Mallala practice day and we can get a better idea of who is actually keen. Also just a fun day out to drive the car (as hard or soft as you want) with a great atmosphere. Get to put faces to names too and have a chat :D

More than happy to contribute $$ too cubes, but what sort of $$ would we be looking at (while keeping CAMS affilliated), any ideas? I see WA is $25 per annum, but are they CAMS affilliated?

Also, I would be happy for October 27 to be the first club track outing. Clutch will be done by then (finally) so would be keen to head out for sure! :)

Dang....

Been wanting something like this to happen ever since i started reading/hearing about the VIC and NSW track days!

Im deffinately down! But if that date sticks i'll be watching the first few events :)

Still have more goodies that need to be purchased until im "happy" for the car to come back on the road... That and it needs to go through regency :D

Either way im happy someone is finally gettin SA's gear together and getting things going! Can't wait to see how this all pans out!

Just checked out the CAMS website, and depends on how many members we have:

1-40 members, $264 pa

41-100 members, $462 pa

100-200 members, $660 pa

So I would suggest we would probably on have around 20 paying members for a start. That would make it $13.20 per member. Found it on this form here: http://cams.com.au/downloads/paperforms/A-101.pdf

So I would think when establishing membership cost, want to keep it competitive to the cheapest CAMS affilliated club which is v-max at $35 per year (i think). So would have to look into the cost of meeting venue hire (monthly meetings), club account establishment, merchandise establishment.. I would think a fee of $30-35 per person per year would be do-able

Actually, as another thought. Shannons have rooms they let out to clubs for meetings, and they are located on South Rd just near the cross road overpass. The avoca hotel is just up the road for a meal before hand... Would be a good central spot for meetings I reckon. Parking right out the front of the venue to so can keep an eye on the cars during the meeting (I would imagine)

Clarence Gardens SA 5039

Champ Hotwire..

Madaz,

Shannons is very central so an excellent choice for a venue.

~20-25km's from the people who live down south; and ~20-25km's from those up at Salisbury/North.

Pizza house could be a good venu to start off with until the club grows a little larger where it may become a problem.

Not getting ahead of our selves; all this has to be discussed. :)

    • Reasonably hard, although I haven't run it with the new Endless setup yet. The old brakes were F50's on 335mm rotors and the car did a 1:40.6 at Phillip Island which is a reasonable time, I'm seeing high 600s on the temperature paint. A guy I know ran the Endless fluid at WTAC without issues and he was doing 1:33's I think (Evo) with a 355/332 setup. I don't get out to the track as much as I'd like but we put the car on the hoist and spanner check every bolt and re-paint mark everything, bleed the brakes, change the fuel, check the coolant system and re-bleed blah blah blah before every event. Motorsport is expensive, RB's are expensive so a couple of hours before an event is time well spent. It's also a net time saving because if you can keep your RB from self destructing it saves you time in the long term!
    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
