its only limited to around 30% under about 3000rpm

And its a pain in the arse to tune around. I still have the throttle restriction, my 0-100 time would be around 4.5 seconds but it could be much better.

I think it could be related to speed, under 30kph perhaps?

im wondering how you intend on getting around speed cut :?

4.5 is damn quick. what mods have you got to get those numbers?

(i just had a look at your Garage). You gave exhaust 6/10 and intake 10/10? Did you do a full exhaust turbo back? or just cat-back?

No more boost/mods to pull those numbers?

Plenty of both, I haven't updated the garage for a few months.

The previous exhaust was too loud so I bought a s/h cat back and fabricated my own 3.5 inch dump into a highflow cat.

I run a fairly small highflow at 20psi on E85. Current tune is 300awkw.

Hang on... a custom exhaust, some ethenal, a high flow turbo running 20psi and you make 300awkw?? wow thats impressive.

Can the factory transmission, ECU, and injectors handle all that?

(you have me very interested) :D

He has an FMIC, upgraded trans, 610cc injectors, Tomei fuel pump and is running an E-manage Ultimate.....plus a couple of other home made bit's all of which you will need.

How much all up you reckon Scotty? 6-8k? Pretty good value I'd say...

Then again a friend of mine got his stock 04 WRX to 190 awkw for 6k...all done at STI at Docklands...

Gearbox wiped out the budget, 4k there, Highflow was another 2k, the rest was bit by bit. I would guess 10k total with me doing all the labour/fabrication.

200awkw is about the limit of the stock intake, stock turbo will flow that at higher boost but will then fail. I would be interested to see what a stock setup would do on e85...

Really? I thought M35 had ~140 - 150 awkw...so exhaust adds 50 awkw!???

Yes, You are correct..

I think Cam is referring to adding an Emanage or something similar to produce a more efficient result that should be tunable to 190kw on the stock injectors.

Scotty, What mods did you do to the gearbox to cost $4K??

Valve body upgrade, metal plates between the clutches laser cut from thinner material so they could fit extra friction plates, Dominator 3k high stall torque converter. It was the first one they had seen, its not like other RE5's apparently.

I think I hit 179awkw on stock boost, if the standard turbo was steel wheeled, 200 wouldn't be a problem.

Yep, hence what I typed.

Bargain! :)

Should be able to get around that power level from stock with just an exhaust and tune on a VQ25det M35!

OK for the tv to work youll need a new tv tuner, whats available now im not sure that Asuka dont sell them (so i read)

getting the tv working while youre driving is not advisable and against the law, but if you HAVE to, there are override boxes that can do all this and literally just plug in. they come from japan, im surprised your car didnt have one fitted already!

check under the DVD tray andsee if there is a green light that is also a button. thats the override button for the tv.

yeh im pretty sure i dont have one.

looking at the Trans ecu it looks like something was added and then taken off back to stock. Both me and scott assumed it would be the overide.

where can I get a Tuner from? its it a simple Jaycar type mod or is it more complex than im thinking. I was expecting it to be like the FM Band expander.

    • I think you're really missing the point. The spec is just the minimum spec that the fuel has to meet. The additive packages can, and do, go above that minimum if the fuel brand feels they need/want to. And so you get BP Ultimate or Shell Ultra (or whatever they call it) making promises to clean your engine better than the standard stuff....simply because they do actually put better additive packages in there. They do not waste special sauce on the plebian fuel if they can avoid it. I didn't say "energy density". I just said "density". That's right, the specific gravity (if you want to use a really shit old imperial description for mass per unit volume). The density being higher indicates a number of things, from reduces oxygen content, to increased numbers of double bonds or cyclic components. That then just happens to flow on to the calorific value on a volume basis being correspondingly higher. The calorific value on a mass basis barely changes, because almost all hydrocarbon materials have a very similar CV per kg. But whatever - the end result is that you do get a bit more energy per litre, which helps to offset some of the sting of the massive price bump over 91. I can go you one better than "I used to work at a fuel station". I had uni lecturers who worked at the Pt Stanvac refinery (at the time they were lecturing, as industry specialist lecturers) who were quite candid about the business. And granted, that was 30+ years ago, and you might note that I have stated above that I think the industry has since collected together near the bottom (quite like ISPs, when you think about it). Oh, did I mention that I am quite literally a combustion engineer? I'm designing (well, actually, trying to avoid designing and trying to make the junior engineer do it) a heavy fuel oil firing system for a cement plant in fricking Iraq, this week. Last week it was natural gas fired this-that. The week before it was LPG fired anode furnaces for a copper smelter (well, the burners for them, not the actual furnaces, which are just big dumb steel). I'm kinda all over fuels.
    • Well my freshly rebuilt RB25DET Neo went bang 1000kms in, completely fried big end bearing in cylinder 1 so bad my engine seized. No knocking or oil pressure issue prior to this happening, all happened within less than a second. Had Nitto oil pump, 8L baffled sump, head drain, oil restrictors, the lot put in to prevent me spinning a bearing like i did to need the rebuild. Mechanic that looked after the works has no idea what caused it. Reckoned it may have been bearing clearance wrong in cylinder 1 we have no idea. Machinist who did the work reckoned it was something on the mechanic. Anyway thats between them, i had no part in it, just paid the money Curiosity question, does the oil system on RB’s go sump > oil pump > filter > around engine? If so, if you had a leak on an oil filter relocation plate, say sump > oil pump > filter > LEAK > around engine would this cause a low oil pressure reading if the sensors was before the filter?   TIA
