yeh im pretty sure i dont have one.

looking at the Trans ecu it looks like something was added and then taken off back to stock. Both me and scott assumed it would be the overide.

where can I get a Tuner from? its it a simple Jaycar type mod or is it more complex than im thinking. I was expecting it to be like the FM Band expander.

Hi Aaron,

I'm in the process of weighing up the options.

It is possible to get the Asuka's still but they have to be bought in lots of 20. Andy (Andy65b) in Sydney is interested in helping out as is Brad (ducati02) in Adelaide as they were involved in the last few batches that Simon (Chook) in Brisbane got in for club members. BTW, he did a great job at putting together install info. A recent thread is here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tv...TV+tuners+again

Having said that, I was sent a sample tuner to test just this week which will be cheaper and easier to get, hopefully in smaller numbers. I hope to try out the TV reception soon but it already works well on the bench playing movies from USB. It has AV, Component & HDMI outputs (1 of each) but the instructions are wrong re an input for (say) reverse camera as I can't get this to work.

It remains to be seen how well it works, but if you want a reversing camera connected thru the tuner, it will need to be the Asuka. Otherwise this unit could be OK pending full installation and trials.

Cheers, Leon.

Hi Leon

As another option, Chris Rogers is able to wire in directly to the OEM tuner a reverse camera that switches on when reverse is selected.

Whilst the Asuka tuner has the input for the reverse camera, it is not automatic when selecting reverse as you have to select the TV option to see the camera.

Cheers

Andy

Hi Leon,

Thanks heaps for the info and update. Just a couple of questions. with the HR II & III series, what was the quality of the product ie is it worth the $300~. I mean i like the extra recording and AV inputs. this would mean I could somehow hook up the Playstation :P

Hopefully this sample you've got will work out to be the much better cheaper option, Looking forward to hear your review on it, if not made one already.

Thanks brother!

Further to Previous Post;

I have gotten in contact with Zylux. They have said the following;

Hi Aaron,

Our current TV tuner model (the CAR-TViQ) is a universal 12v tuner with standard CVBS video output.

If your car requires an interface module, it will be needed for signal to be displayed on screen. – Unfortunately, we do not supply these modules.

If I can help with anything else, please let me know.

If anybody has any Ideas with wiring etc? or not possible for this product.

the link for the one i found is

http://www.zylux.com.au/Zylux-DigitalTV.html

This is the HrIII with a changed name for Aust Purposes. So it in effect wires the same as the HR III. But price is just below $700 each. you need to be a previous buyer from them to get a better price. maybe Bulk buying if anyones dealt with them before?

cheers/

*EDIT*

Turns out that $677.00 price is only if we bulk order Ten. yuck

Hi

Im looking at purchasing a M35 Stagea rs and my only concern is if anyone has ever had any gearbox problems.

I cooked mine on the dyno, probably due to the wrong fluid. I got it rebuilt with a shift kit and more clutch plates, it has been holding two and a half times the stock power for a year now.

Strong little buggers, I wish it would blow so I could fit an R34 gtr box. :)

Matic J is sprecified in the trans stalk, but Nissan will be moving to Matic S (full synthetic - about damn time) very soon.

You can certainly use Nulon 100% Synthetic transmission fluid (I do in my gearbox, transfer case, ATTESSA and power steering as it is compatible with both Matic J and Matic D).

The "satchel" I referred to in the past was something that all automatic Nissans have put in their transmissions over here. It is an additives pack which aids the trans fluid and prolongs the life of the transmission. If you use the Nulon or Matic S, this satchel is not required.

my next question about the m35 stagea is insurance. i rang shannons and justcars and they both quoted me just a little over $2000 for the value of $20000 with 60% no claim bonus and never had made a clain and never had a speeding fine yet my modified r32 gtr costs $1700.. is there anyone else that will insure these cars. btw im 28 years old. i know being under 30 makes a little difference but for goodness sake its a wagon.

Yes it is a wagon, but it is a grey import which makes parts a bit more expensive and difficult to obtain which is partly why they cost a little more to insure AND it is a turbo V6 "performance" wagon.

I personally use Shannons for my car and house. They are much better than any other company I have been with and are well priced too... well for me they are :P

Here, have a look at this thread for insurance options and what people are paying.

Famous used to do them, about $1200 per year. .
