I came accross the Stillen Cold air for the G35.

http://www.intensepo...hicoairbox.html

do you think it would fit in our M35's? comparing between this and my sisters V35. the box is the same.. would the AFM tell it to f**k off in other words.. lol

Yes, It does fit.. Danny had it fitted to his Gold ARX when he had it.

Yep, as Andy said, straight bolt in... but sadly it is canary material in Vic (you already have the FMIC)

yeh but it looks stock...and its sooooo nice.. :( thanks for ruining me cam haha

Would they notice it though? coz it looks stock right?

You see the pod through the powerduct

I've seen the setup...it is nice....sounds good too.....why is it defect material.....the POD is separated from the engine bay?

irrelevant. One intake mod allowed in Vic.

Aaron has a FMIC so that is it for legality.

lol ok me and scott decided. this is happening after my first tune. so the addition of it being added can actually be determined as worth it or not.

if its an 11 hp gain for vq35de then it should be huge for a forced induction - with the addition of a larger suction pipe.. plus i'll find a loop hole before then.

Looking at Stillen's site:

What's the 2nd kit? a straight tube?

Interesting that no one's got a CAI on the M35 yet...which means the stock air box is...tolerable?

2nd kit is for N/A VQ35/25's.

You can get a pod and enclose it if you really want one. Blitz and M's have pod "kits" but they just sit behind the headlight.

Stock airbox with powerduct/home made powerduct will be sufficient.

the Z tube is a piece that goes between the AFM and the throttle body. The std G35/V35 PNM35 unit has all these baffles and shit that is designed to reduce intake resonance. This gets shafted in place for a straight tube off a Z33. more power(?) and better intake sound.

Wont fit on a NM35

Hi,

I have been lurking here for a while now......

I have been wanting to get a Stagea for about 7 or 8 years and I am finally about to make the move.

I am looking at M35's but after hours on this thread and others I am a bit concerned about the turbo issue.

Are they guaranteed to go about 100,000km, or is it just a few that it happens to? And would an ARX4 be worse due to the higher boost?

As far as I can tell this is this case and the repair bill can be around $2k.

If anyone could clarify it would me much appreciated.

Cheers

NO guarantees on the turbo's at all, I have been told of them failing as low as 50'000km (but that car was found to have at least 50'000km would back on the clock) and I know mine was still good at 125'000km (ARX). Whilst it was still working, it was starting to go as oil was leaking from the bearing. I think if you look after the car, change oil every 7000km as a minimum with quality oil you could see 150'000km from this turbo. You are going to have to hope the previous owner looked after the car as well as you would.

If you need to change the turbo, there are a number of option to rebuild the turbo. You can have it rebuilt the same size from about $800 or a large high flow up to $2000. The removal of the turbo and replacement is the hard work. The best method is to remove the motor and gear box. This is about 6 hours of work so a few dollars there.

If the turbo worries you, have a look at the PM35, the NA version of the same car with a 3.5L motor. Very good car, newer and a little more expensive. They are available from North Shore Prestige.

Good luck with your decision.

Cheers

Andy

i own an m35 with 117k on the clock - probably more as the cluster HAD been removed at some stage before - and its still going

also have another one with 105k on the clock and its also running fine.

if you look after it, it will keep going.

    • My stuff is all with Shannon's, granted, I don't really have imports I'm driving on the road, however, I've had multiple cars at the same time with them. Presently we have the Landcruiser on laid up cover, Sarah's Kluger on full cover, and the house insured. About 18 months ago Sarah wrote her Subaru Liberty GTB off, insured with Shannon's, and the payout, and buy back of the wreck was super quick. In 2020 we had the VF Commodore totalled in a major hailstorm. Storm was on the Saturday, I called on the Sunday and lodged it, vehicle was towed on Tuesday night, assessment team called on Wednesday to say it was a total loss and get payout details, money was in the bank on Thursday morning. Have had a few other claims both at fault, and not at fault, over the years, and never had an issue with them.   Funnily enough, they're also the cheapest insurer I find for things like Sarah's Kluger.   I will say I'm less impressed dealing with them lately around "the experience", as a lot of their staff that you deal with aren't car enthusiasts. Shannon's has a much more main stream feel ever since they decided to become "big corporate", laid a heap of staff off, and then hired a bunch of non enthusiasts. At the same time they've been making a push to be less "call us and we'll personally have someone who cares help" to "hey, this computer can do stuff for you" and are trying to get more square pegs to fit round holes. (That's just the vibe I get from them). Again, have had no issues with claims with them, but get a bit of a "less personal" feel from them.
    • A thing I wasn’t happy with with enthusiast was during the initial phone call they told me they’d insure it for 130k but needed photos.   I then sent them photos and they told me $80k as there were other cars either similar modifications available for around that price, I told them to send me the links to said cars so that I can buy them. i then sent the modification list with prices of the parts (no labor) and the price then came to 115k, which is still shy of the 130 that was agreed in the initial phone call
    • Ask me a bit later this week before payday
    • I agree that delayed payment probably isn't the most suitable solution. It seems a solid complete transaction would be best. As I wouldn't be using this sale as a line of credit that would typically earn interest, we can probably arrange a much cleaner single transaction deal. I can do $92.52 today. Would you prefer EFT, or Cash on Pickup?  😛
    • Oh man what a deal.... Funny enough (well not really) I sold a car to some old dude (buying for his Daughter) on a Saturday, He asked if she could take the car now and pay me the money on Monday as the bank wasn't open. Needless to say I told them to come back with the cash or get f**ked! Luckily the money seemed to magically appear in his pocket a few minutes later, so it all ended well (for me).
