Yeah the one on page 44 was the one i liked, would need to see log books to see if kms wound back....would hope not

Certainly a nice looking car; I really like the Kenstyle kit in black. Kays do seem a little low for a vehicle of it's age though.

Not saying it's impossible; but as has been pointed out in the past, it would be a better bet to look at a car with 70,000km on it as they're more likely to be honest rather than a 40,000km car that probably had over 100,000km prior to being wound back, because it had nice paint.

The big clues to look for on these if you suspect high kays (but can't see them) is wear on the steering wheel and pedal rubbers. Pedal rubbers are easy to replace, but the Wheel is mostly overlooked. If the steering wheel has evidence of wear (surface worn through) or is very shiny, I'd be really suspicious.

Obviously the usual; seats, trim, general looseness still applies to high kilometre cars. Although having said that; these are put together quite well and they do seem to weather quite well. This was brought home to me when I drove a mate's 2005 XR8 Falcon last week. Paint & trim are beautiful, has about 10 grand worth of add ons (exhaust, intake, tune shift kittted auto, brembo's and suspension upgrades) has dyno sheets for 300rwkw and it is maintained obsessively. It honestly drove like a 15 year old car; rattles & squeaks EVERYWHERE and virtually every bush is due for replacement.

And really not that quick either. Doughy down low and when it finally does start to kick, your only 1500rpm from redline! V8? Pffft!

I was so disappointed; I gave him the keys to mine, and sent him on his way. He came back half an hour later; absolutely crestfallen at how much better resolved the Stagea was as a "performance" car and I doubt it would top 150awkw. On a winding road, you'd round up this Falcon and be gone into the distance before it decided what gear it was going to choose.

Super low kay Jap cars DO exist; but if they truly were low for a car of this age, you'd expect to be paying a premium for the privilege.

My 2 (50?) cents.

Hate to nitpick Dale, but it is a Dayz kit on that black M35. :)

As it stands, I'd have no issue buying an M35 that has over 100,000kms on the clock (depending on price of course).

Besides the turbo, they are a damn solid car.

Hate to nitpick eh? Lol, all good; I'm the king of gettin' it wrong...

I agree though, it's interesting how some people will pass up a tidy car with some kays, for one with lower kays, in worse condition.

Speaking of decent kays.. I noticed Iron Chef has an ARX advertised for landed and complied at $11k. Cream leather interior (not the baby puke orange one), 100k on the clock.. Pretty good deal by the sounds of it - Id presonally budget for a turbo changeover if buying it, but even with that in mind its a bit of a steal.

hey All

I am looking at buying a AR-X from Iron Chef Imports. It has leather seats and from the pictures a Bose system. As well as all the AR-X options.

The question is what are the AR-X options? Is there anywere I can go to fiind out the factory options? Is there a Model by Model options list here in the forum? I noticed the info on page one of this thread but nothing that will tell me what models are the base models and what are the top of the line. Just wanted to know everything before i hand over cash as i will have a 2-3 month wait before it arrives.

ARX options in mine are

twin sunroof

rub guards

18"

tanned leather

seat warmers

LCD screen

electric passanger seat

remote start

and jacked up suspension for off road style

thats all i can remember.. and mine didnt come with a Bose, but it still sounds pretty insane as scott knows.

good luck mate!

Standard Options on the ARX above a RS/RX are:

* 18 inch wheels (10mm wider wheel track)

* Wheel flares

* LSD

* V-HICAS (active rear wheel steering above 40km/h)

* Leather seats

* Electric & Heated front seats

The rest is all option.

Hi,

Before I say "I want a M35 Stagea, what should I do," I have done a bit of research on them, in hear and other places, so I'm not completely lazy

Q1: What is the difference between the - '250 T RS Four', 'RS Four' and T RS Four" ???

Q2: How much does the Turbo cost to fix?

Q3: Has anyone owned one of these and a WRX Wagon/Hatch? Comparisons? I know this has heap more functionality but in regards to performance/practicality? Indeed, what is the performance like? ie acceleration, cornering and braking?

Q4: Can you tell if the clock has been wound back?

Q5: The Visual Display Unit, I understand it's useless without some modifications or conversion? I have no idea what this entails but how much does it cost? I want mine to be functional at least. Does the VDO include GPS and can this be updated?

I'm from Tassie, I understand NorthShore Prestige Motors are fairly reliable and they ship the car free of charge which is excellent. Is the Skyline Community tight-knit enough that I could buy the car from Northshore, get the mods done to the VOD and have it shipped?

I haven't seen any down here so it's a bit hard to really get an idea of performance etc

Thanking you in advance for any help

ill answe the performance bit as say it will take alot more to squeeze out 900nm out of a WRX Boxer engine, than a Stageas VQ25DET

I'm not really looking to tune it but thanks anyway. In saying that, I wouldn't be totally averse to buying a tuned car, I'm just not one to invest money in something that isn't going to give me a return.

Q1: What is the difference between the - '250 T RS Four', 'RS Four' and T RS Four" ???

250T RS Four = VQ25DET with ATTESSA.

250 RS Four = VQ25DD with ATTESSA

T = turbo

Four = ATTESSA AWD

Q2: How much does the Turbo cost to fix?

Not sure. Everyone's been hi flowing them....starts from $900 (hypergear)

Stock vs Stock, the WRX would be superior in every aspect I'd say. Mods vs Mods I'd think the WRX still has the edge due to its weight advantage...

Q4: Can you tell if the clock has been wound back?

Not sure - but you can tell the cars age by checking everything else (interior, exterior, wear and tear etc)

Q5: The Visual Display Unit, I understand it's useless without some modifications or conversion? I have no idea what this entails but how much does it cost? I want mine to be functional at least. Does the VDO include GPS and can this be updated?

GPS cannot be used here...to use the VDU you'll need (well, yuo don't HAVE to) get a translation done. Andy & Ducati are the people to speak with...

Don't see why not. Andy's in Sydney, so's Northshore...

WRX is smaller though isn't it? So wouldn't be superior in every aspect. Also every WRX wagon I've been in feels cheap inside compared to the M35. M35 feels more solid, and expensive. Just a nice place to be.

    • The cross sectional area of a circular hole scales with the square of diameter. So a 2mm diameter hole is 4x the area of a 1mm hole. Not double. The 1.7mm hole is nearly 3x the area of a 1mm hole. You do not need restrictors at both ends of the oil supply line. If you have new, additional restrictors at the turbo end, that you did not have before, then you do not need a restrictor at the inlet end.
    • Hi all. Been a while but things are moving along. I just have something that I am wondering about. Since I will use OEM turbo oil pumbing, I got myself a new bolt, the one that goes into the engine block oil feed. As I recall (and see visually) this bolt comes restricted with I think a 1.7mm hole? Not quite sure but it was something around that size. The turbos have 1mm restrictor bolts installed, as necessary due to ball bearings and my higher oil pressures. Can I now just use that OEM bolt with the 1.7mm hole in for the engine block or will this actually be too much oil flow restriction and I have to drill it out first? In my head it would make sense for the bolt to be at least 2mm wide as both turbos take "1mm of oil flow". Do let me know if my logic is flawed here, I just want to make sure I don't kill my turbo bearings with too little oil. Don't know if I can trust the saying I read somewhere that ball bearing turbos essentially only need an oil mist
    • There are several aftermarket options available, from not-too-painful moneyhttps://justjap.com/collections/driveshafts-bearings/products/d-max-reinforced-replacement-rear-driveshaft-set-fits-nissan-s13-s14-s15-r32-r33-r34-c35 and  https://justjap.com/products/crank-motorsport-billet-rear-axles-fits-nissan-skyline-r33-gts-t-r34-gt-t?srsltid=AfmBOorQk4xkGUa98kO7v2ePLUiNt-HRrM2AwWNw9mbSIVE1ujBVwY__, all the way up to The Driveshaft Shop https://driveshaftshop.com/skyline-cv-axles/
    • Yeah based on old XRC5964S specs, it looks to be roughly GTX3576R sized? But this 5964S compressor will flow 90lb airflow somewhat similar to the compressors in both the GTX3584RS or G35-1050.. I fully expected the 0.64 rear A/R to choke up top - seems way too small from typical convention - but these are seemingly beneficial over the prior 0.82 results.. Be interesting to see if he comments on the EFR question in that thread - he mentioned in a prior video that BW EFR's were the "cats pajamas 10 years ago", but by the sounds of things all his kits have been using Xona for quite a while now.
    • Yeah it’s still got the oem manual gearbox and clutch, only kinda mods are a blow off valve, coil overs, and a aftermarket intercooler. Also had it for about 2 months now with a lovely midnight purple paint on it.
