M35 Info

Those of you running some sort of digital gauges, what do you use to do so?

Does the M35 use OBDII? Can you get an accurate boost figure from this?

Greddy infometer seems to be the most common ....and we know it works....OBDII is correct!

but no boost unless you get the extra right?

yeh you will need the greddy boost sensor and cable to plug into the sender/receiver from the informeter.. oil pressure /temp and stuff also, but I think theres only two extra options you can have.

If I don't use an Informeter, is there a way to get accurate boost measuring to the OBDII port?

i dont think there is bud. im pretty sure we would have it on the informeter if you could.

maybe just go the oldschool way and get a Boost gauge

It's not an iphone app, and I think you meant "necessarily".

The variant of the OBDII protocol that our M35s use isnt 'common' - and as such, we've not seen too many apps/readers/scanners/etc that are 'OBDII compliant' work on our cars :(

Works for the 350z guys with a few issues (this is the most informative post)...

As per kspann's demands, here is my brief review. I only tested it out for a few minutes today in a parking garage, but this is what i gathered. The ebay OBD2 adaptor works decently for what it cost. It lost the connection a couple of times, but quickly and automatically reconnected without any trouble. the code scanner works. It automatically scanned for trouble codes and none were found. Most of the sensors work, too.

Some of the fuel system sensors didn't work. Fuel trim bank 1 sensor 1 & 2 worked fine, but 3 & 4 didn't show up. Fuel trim bank 2 sensors 1 & 2 showed a constant 99.2%, I don't know what thats about. Also MPG, fuel pressure, and fuel % didnt work.

Sensors that did work include throttle %, timing advance, engine load, mass air flow rate, intake manifold pressure, intake air temperature, engine coolant temperature, acceleration, and MPH. I didn't try the turbo boost gauge or O2 volts sensors.

I was only using the free app, so I wasn't able to use the "dyno" and 0-60 time. As for the troubles with missing sensors, there is an option to add PIDs so you can monitor anything processed by the ECU. Overall, you can probably get a better OBD2 bluetooth adapter for a little more money, but i think this one will work just fine for me. Torque works great as a simple alternative to some of the expensive multigauges out there and as a cheap code scanner.

P.S. It does eat up a bit of battery, so you might want a car charger if you use it a lot.

I've got an Informeter, and while its pretty good at what it does, it becomes expensive when you want to add on sensors.

You have to buy a harness to connect additional sensors, then the sensors themselves. For some you have to buy the cabling too. I have a list Greddy support gave me if you want, and prices from Streeter. Not sure if you can use the sensors wired to an Emanage through the optional serial connection? I know you can connect the Informeter to the Emanage.

I'm actually thinking of selling it now, as I'd like the additional sensors but I don't want to pay those prices just for the Informeter, then in some cases buy additional ones for the engine management.

I was looking at getting HKS CAMP2 (although its discontinued now, not sure if theres an update coming), and connecting it to the Fcon to use the additional Fcon sensors I've ordered. That way any extra sensors I buy, whether its for Fcon or just for information, can in theory be used for multiple purposes.

Might also look at replacing the deck already, so I can run multiple video sources into the back, and use the deck for CAMP2 and the stock screen for stereo/TV, or vice versa. Brad and I might have to have a little discussion about that...

Its in the car and ready to go, so if you want to see it in action, let me know. Sure Dunc can show you too.

Good news today for PNM35 owners-

Cat Back exhausts from the NM35 series cars fit our cars!!!banana.gif

Don't know about PM35's, as the you have no transfer case, the routing/length of the front pipe may be different.

Well after 3 months, i've taken ownership of my AR-X and its in the driveway! I won't be able to drive till i've got a few things sorted (rego etc) but it's even nicer in the flesh. I'm stoked. It doesn't have the VDO but it does have reverse sensors, which for me at least, will get a heap more practical use.

Big thanks to Kristian from IronChef who was excellent to deal with and when things turned a bit sour, sorted the issue out, to his own detriment no less. I'd highly recommend him.

I'm going to let the dust settle for a week or two but then get onto Scotty for a dump, buy a filter, BC coilovers and upgrade the brakes. That'll probably do. I really want the Legalis cat back but it's $1500 from JustJap and that's just too expensive ... except it's perfect for what I want ... better performance but stock sounding and stock looking.

I understand a lot of them come over with only one key .... what did you guys do getting another one? just got another cut ?

You are kidding, yes?

No chance the Legalis is stock sounding and I haven't seen many cars from factory getting around with two 90mm tips on a single muffler

I love the Legalis, but it ain't even close to stock

Straight off the Fujitsubo site

FUJITSUBO

Volume idling - (STD) 60dB (Legalis) 66dB

Proximity exhaust noise (4800rpm) - (STD) 81dB (Legalis) 86dB

3000rpm - (STD) 72dB (Legalis) 80dB

5000rpm - (STD) 81dB (Legalis) 85dB

4000rpm ~ 6000rpm - (STD) 96dB (Legalis) 105dB

You could probably re-direct that comment to those that have said it is relatively quiet (bar the blitz NUR) on this forum.... maybe they're wrong? I disagree with you on looks though ... the standard has two tips and so does the legalis... now when you consider most rival tips looks like cannons then I'd certainly assert it does look close to stock in comparison.
