The 5th and final round of the 2007 Toyo Drift Australia Series is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting drift event in Australian history as all of the country's elite drivers and professional teams head to Sydney's Oran Park Raceway this weekend (September 22-23).

With 500 championship points on offer and only 187 separating the top 8 drivers, the championship finale is set to become a monumental 'winner-take-all' battle.

At the top of the points table, Robbie "The Mad Irishman" Bolger is looking to power his way into the history books with his incredible 800hp V8 Holden Monaro. "Winning the championship would be dream come true" said Bolger. "Drifting started in Japan and is dominated by high performance Japanese imports so winning the Australian Drift Championship in a big Aussie V8 would be sensational."

Hot on Bolger's heals and leading the charge for the Japanese imports is South Australia's 'Corporal' Christian Pickering in the Team CTS Nissan 180SX. Third is WA's Adam 'Borneo' Trewhella in the big Nissan Cefiro. 2005 series winner Darren 'Afro' Appleton is 4th in his Nissan 180SX. Fifth is Round 4 winner Fernando Wiehrl in the chrome Auto Salon Industrie Adrenalin S15 Silvia. Sixth is the reigning Australian Drift Champion Beau 'The Show' Yates who stole victory from Bolger in a winner take all final battle at Oran Park last year in his legendary Toyota Sprinter. Seventh is Leighton Fine in the Team Peer Nissan Onevia and rounding out the top 8 is 'Turbo' Tom Monkhouse, winner of Round 3 at Eastern Creek in his Nissan 180SX.

In addition to the Toyo Drift Australia Series final which will decide who will be crowned Australian Drift Champion, the event also includes the final round of the 2007 Super Drift Series, Team Drift action and the Toyo Drift Expression Session.

Off track entertainment includes the Auto Salon Magazine Show n Shine, a back-flipping freestyle minibike display, extreme mototrials demonstrations while Oran Park's North Circuit will feature non-stop Stunt bike and Supermoto Mayhem action.

talk adam into going. :mellow::D

he's doing a drag day at WSID today.

i wanted to see Dan in action, and I've never been to the drifting!! :( would been have fun!! oh well, there's always next year :D

I went on Saturday and I must say the scene has really stepped up a notch, semi trailer transporters, cars covered in sponsors, way less damaged cars left in primer its really good to see this sport lifting and gaining interest of the corporate world and spectators.

What a day

My mate Nath finished 4th- Would have been 3rd, put he somehow managed to select 1st instead of 3rd coming into turn 1 and spun ><, first time in 2 years :laugh:

i seen that.i thought what the hell is going on.it looked as though he was going great guns and then all of a sudden he spun.he had a top weekend though.the competition was pretty feirce.fernando was on song.and chris was doing well to make it into the top 8 imo.even he had a stuff up.

dan is still trying to get a hold on the car from the looks of it.the old boat looks really twitchy from where i was.

    • Starting with issues 1 - 5, we have already run into a problem...!  Issue #4 contained 2x front brake calipers, instead of 1 caliper and 1x steering knuckle. Will have to call DeAgostini on Monday to sort it out. Anyway here's some photos.  Issue #1 is the front bumper, headlights and number plate. Issue #2 is the front wheel (with "We produced with spartan air." text on the centre cap!) and tyre, the front lip spoiler and cylinder head cover with ignition coils under the centre cover... which will never be seen again. Issue #3 is the bonnet and cylinder head. Issue #4 is the front strut, brake disc (with laser etched metal discs) and brake caliper. I stopped here because of the issue with the missing steering knuckle.  Next update will be #5 - #10 in a few weeks.
    • DeAgostini is one of a few companies that release quite large (the largest commonly available size actually) 1/8 scale models in a series of weekly issues over 100 - 110 instalments.  They release different models for different markets and DeAgostini Japan have release the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo last month. I've made two of these 1/8 scale sized cars (one an R35 GT-R from 2012 - 2014, the other I'm just about halfway through, a BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the 2Fast 2Furious movie) so when this R32 was announced there was no way I could ignore it as it's my favourite out of all Nissans.  Each issue costs around $20 so it costs about $2.2K when completed. I suppose it is very expensive for what it is, but the quality and details are really very good, and there are many "gimmicks" like fully functioning exterior and interior lights operated with a remote control, working steering, all doors/bonnet/boot/fuel lid open and close, the side mirrors fold in and it even has a speaker for the engine revving sounds when you turn the lights on.  Each issue comes with a magazine that tells the story of the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo from the first design stages of the BNR32 to Group A homologation and the various racing version that were run in the Japanese Group A and JGTC, and Australian Group A.  So I plan to update the build in this thread 5 issues at a time.  https://deagostini.jp/r32/?srsltid=AfmBOooKjxDc4EUK2rmXqMBPgyHfFJ24s4oEPJBNpnF-lFlsRoW0PE6P
    • As per title.. has anyone used so far? Keen to hear results, comparisons. In the market for a new mani for my new turbo. Any issues cracking?
