hey brittz

the pager alarm is an alarm that when it is set off it lets your pager know so it beeps at you my bf has one on his car and the pager can be set off up to 500meters away. It has a little screen on it with a pic of a car too haha it tells you whats happening if the cars been hit or theres a door open etc.

Its definatly worth the money some of them come with remote start so you can warm your car up etc.

If you want to get a quote go to Angs audio shop on north east road. it cost my bf $850 thats the top of the line one too mates rates haha.

Go in and talk to ang tell him lauren aka pinkbits sent you down there he should fix you up

Lauren

i got my viper alarm (top of the line with remote start) off the net for 350, and i got it installed by the boys at auto bahn cost me 310 for the install. works great... i rest a little easier now when i leave my car at the shops caus emy pager goes off if someone so much as farts near my car....

my advice is check the net for cheaper alarms if ya wanna save yourself some cash

about the whole pager things, do you have to get a new alarm? because i already have a pretty good alarm and dont really wanna spend heaps of cash to get a newer one so it has a pager thing. cant someone just add it on?

It depends on the particular model. The alarm needs to interface with the gps+gsm unit... some of the Autowatch series have this feature. Otherwise the other ones I know of are all in one units (and are generally monitored and uber pricey)

-D

PS If you want to talk alarms, give George at Adelaide Pro Sound a tingle. He did a great job on my r32...was worth the drive south heheh

    • It's all about reducing the overall output. Reduce the source of it, you have wayyyy less to deal with in every other step and trick you play with. It's why something like a modern vehicle, so VW, Audi etc, there's thousands of tables for the ECU to calculate what it should be doing with the engine.   Why would you NOT reduce emissions the most effective way possible, when it has very minimal tradeoff, AND manufacturers are always struggling to meet the current standards.

    • Yeah I've personally seen the RB26 pull 30 degrees of ignition timing out of the base timing map if the ECU detects a cold start, it nearly starts misfiring because of it around 2000 rpm and it feels like the engine has no power. I'm just surprised that modern OEM control strategies are actually trading off efficiency for in-cylinder emissions. I would expect something like aggressive EGR dilution + tumble generation valve use to improve EGR tolerance to reduce in-cylinder NOx + HC from crevice volume while also reducing throttling loss vs pulling out some timing if not knock-limited.
