That looks like a neat exhaust. My only question is, anyone tried this but with aftermarket dump pipe?

I'm going deaf from my current exhaust but don't want to sacrifice flow. Suggestions?

I swapped out my stock RB20 gear for one of BATMBL's combined stainless split dump and front pipes and at the same time fitted a Kakimoto system. Couldn't be happier with the results. Easy fit, more power and sounds great. Only time anyone would notice anything noise wise, is if I really stomp on the power. That's pretty much the way I like it.

That sucks, i didn't think they were that common that the cops would know about, guess it won't be long before they are looking up the throat of the exhaust zz, also guess if i ever had to take it in for an EPA i would have to take it off

I don't want to whore up this thread so I'll keep it brief but what the cops know and what the EPA know are two different things. The good thing about that butterfly thing (or quiet exhaust) is that it will probably stop you getting EPA'd in the first place as it won't draw attention to you and you might pass the simple noise test with it as the exhaust shops don't look too closely at your exhaust system. However if you go for a full EPA at mcleod they do look closely at your system and most likely you will be pulled up on it.

Hi Sewid , can you or anyone else tell me if R33GTR and R33GTST exhaust systems are interchangeable behind the Cat ?

My R33 GTST came with some form of Nismo Cat back and if you look up its spout you can see two smaller pipes through the guts of the rear muffler . I'm interested to know if an exhaust like the one you bought would bolt up and be quiet and low restriction on my R33GTST . BTW its using a direct fit modified I think Catco ceramic 3" Cat .

I like QUIET , cheers Adrian .

I have a Trust PE II exhaust, nice low tone but not loud at all. Just how I like it.

+1 for the PE II its not stupidly loud and doesn't have a drone to it!

I think a number of systems are interchangeable between GTR and GTS-t. The Kakimoto lists one part number for both.

please confirm for me, do ANY of these aftermarket exhausts follow the EXACT same route as the standard exhaust and sit up as high like the stock exhaust?

i have driveway clearance inssues.

Great thread, exactly the info I was looking for....

Anyone have the model number for the Fugitsubo twin system?

Also.... how much does a hi-flow cat and aftermarket front/dump pipe change noise level on the Kakimoto or Trust PEII?

ok so i just put my regu system on and its awesome! i also fitted a catco 2.25" compliance cat (going for my emmisions test) and it sounds great! flow is great and way quiter!

one step closer to my eng certificate!

my car came with that same exhaust from Japan

i ended up cutting off the rear muffler and replacing it with an apexi N! muffler but keeping the original kakimoto system

reason being the kakimoto was too quiet for me

and it wasnt looked after by the previous owner.

My car is completely stock, will I need an aftermarket front/dump pipe and/or high flow cat?

Is it better on a stock car to go with just a cat back system?

Better off going the full turbo back system. Your exhaust is only as good as the worst part. So, a cat back is still restricted with stock dump/front and cat.

I bought my car as a fresh import from Japan and it came with a "Momo Corsa" stainless exhaust which is an interesting piece of work - I have never seen another of the same type and haven't been able to find any evidence whatsoever of it on the net. It had "MomoCorsa" etched on the muffler with a JASMA badge underneath. The rear muffler at least is completely straight through and it was a nice smooth quiet sounding exhaust - like substantially quieter than things like the Trust PE2 etc.

The car performed really well with it but I was suspicious of its flow given how quiet it was, and the roar it would get on at high revs/boost really made it hard to be sure whether or not it was being restrictive. Bare in mind this isn't a filter and exhaust setup, I run up to 18psi through a Garrett GT3076R on an RB25. It was tested at 84db at 3500rpm with no cat installed at an arranged exhaust volume testing day - a factory Falcon XR8 tested higher!! It was very cool having such a quick and quiet car but it really barely sounded like a Skyline at idle and cruise and kindof annoyed me after a while to be honest - haha.

I have since removed it and have a Trust PE2 exhaust on it now, and it sounds really nice at idle and light acceleration without being too loud - enough to let yourself and others know you are driving a sweet RB powered thing but nothing to make people cringe or complain. It is substantially louder than the Momo Corsa but I get the sensation that above 6000rpm on >1bar of boost it seems to feel freer, whether thats due to the awesome howl it gets on at those revs or some other placebo style effect I don't know - but I like it much more.

Here's a pic of it when I removed it last week (had been on the car for possibly 100,000km so a bit dirty haha):

And video clip of it on the dyno (first run is from the exhaust side - can hear it idle all the way to full power):
