Nadi i don't blame you for thinking what you do. (i'm pretty sure i've met you btw, Masaratti day at Sandown in your GT3RS)...

If i hadn't seen Troy in his 32gtst going that fast with my own eyes i'd probably be saying the same as you... but somehow, he really does go that fast... Also most of us here are RacePace customers so we know most of Bens cars, we are half of Bens cars :D

To the Original Poster. I have to agree with most people in here - take what you have out on the track as it is... and just have some fun... change what you want... you'll probably find you want to change suspension before anything. If you come to the track with us then you'll see most of the stuff said in this thread in real life.

And i'm sure Troy would love another fast 32gtst to play with... there's not many of them...

this thread has now become GTR owners VS Roy. which is the best kind of thread available. just be clear that there can be no winner, only losers. all of us.

it's a good thing you can steer Roy because you are not very good looking and shit in bed. well at least that's what snowman told me...

Interesting question re power and lap times.

Giant's car has got to 1.04 at wakefield with 400+4wkw but no cage, full weight etc

Production car lap record is 1.09 so about 250rwkw, full cage, top suspension set up by sydneykid.

Really blew me away how quick Russ hustled the car around that track with 150 extra kw - especially since its not really a power track like say Sandown.

PI = Phillip Island

Go for a passenger lap in Troy's car and see what you think would be my advice.

I've contemplated going the GT-R route many times, but ultimately I'm glad I never did. I like having to chase the GT-R's down. I'm a long way off most of them at the moment, but I hope to change that soon, and I feel our cars can put in a good effort against these big bad GT-R's... and either way we'll have a hell of a lot of fun trying!

The next SAU day is in October and spectators are always welcome :

14 Sun - SAU Vic Track Club Championship - Round 8 - Calder

Because everyone is telling him to buy a GTR...and build cars like JFKs and Markovs for 30k. and go way quicker then a GTSt (lof course it will) :( I was simply saying dont even modify the RB20 that much. Just do a nice turbo upgrade and look after other parts of the car

I will bet money that provided my engine holds together for another 6 months then i will get damn close to those times. Close enough that i think you can confidently say that the bigger variable is the driver, not the car...lol as you said. I am a hack! :)

Hey, at least i dont try and hide the fact..i bathe in my hackness :D

But definetely, get your car back together...with whatever engine you can get in the thing. Just dont go overboard chasing a 400kw monster motor...Come down grab a passenger lap, have a chat and see if its actually for you before spendong too much folding stuff. Not everyone gets the buzz from track work they thought they would...though most do

ok sweet do i need to apply/join the club or something? whats the entry fee's and all that?

derfinatly making it down for this one... and if you would be so kind as to let me go for a passanger lap that'd be awesome...

i might be able to convince my brother in to letting me borrow that big ass camera of his so i can f**k around with photos etc

whats the turnout for thee kind of events?

cheers

CANT WAIT

already taken the next day off just incase lol

To be a passenger you just have to sign an inedmnity form . To get out there and play around you will need to become a member of an CAMS affiliated club...lol why not SAU-Vic. Thats $70, then its $88 for your CAMS L2S licence and off you go. The car needs minimal mods to go to the track, less then $100 on a secondary bonnet restraint, some contact for the glass headlights and a fire extinguisher.

Its pretty easy to get out there and have a blast ... you can spend as much or as little as you want. Its just that i personally suggest you spend as little uintil you are ure its what you want to be doing with your money....because even std cars chew up money at the track on pads, fuel, tyres, entry etc etc

so i just rock up? then sign that form thingo?

ill become a member closer to when my car is done

As a passenger, you will need to wear the right attire:

- Long sleeve shirt/polo

- Jeans or cotton pants (no synthetic materials)

- Upper leather runners/shoes

- Helmet

- etc

It's always been everyone in VIC vs. Roy - He likes to talk it up too much..

More bet's need to be placed people. Who's running some ods here on Brisby getting these times?

If you want to do a passenger lap, make sure you come to the track early, because it's usually the first session of the day at about 9-9:30.

But yeah I think we've put him on the rigth track now (no pun intended)

Hey, I talk a lot about this stuff because A) I love it and B) I find it interesting what makes a car quick and the improvements ppl get for certain mods. So im always itnerested in peoples experiences...To date I cant think if me being wrong re lap times so farg off! :D

Like i said, i havent lost any yet. PI, Sandown, Dutton 06...you are never against me so i suspect you somehow paddle through all my diatribe and realise there is some merit to me thinking and guesstimates :P

Excellent thread guys. This question has been on my mind for a while too.

I have got a r32gtst and looking to go to track days for a bit of fun.

I am looking to do suspension/brakes/cooling before getting more power. What suspension brake upgrades have you done on yours Roy?

Over xmas i really need to replace the subfram bushes as at the moment i only have pineapples. Ive bene told by a few ppl it makes a big difference to a 15 year old car that has doen so much track work and kms as mine. So???

But i havbe adjustable upper rear bushes, pineapples. Noltec upper front control arms, adjustable castor bushes, 27mm adjustable front bar and 24mm adjustable rear. Tein RA shocks which have been tweaked and Whiteline strut braces. I also run 324mm rotors with std calipers and braided lines. I have some F40 and F50 brakes hear to run with 340mm two pce rotors...just have to decide which ones i want to run

  • 2 weeks later...

what ive dont to mine (if i can remember it all) not inc saftey items

3'' ex

fmic

apexi boost control

lowered springs

pinapples

slotted disc's (front)

braided brake lines

strut bar

pulled weight out (actually i weighed it today and its 1250kg, 20 over standard!!) the cage and fmic would be about 65-70kg total. so without the cage it would fly!!!

bridgestone re55's on 7.5 x 16

pod filter

octane boost or avgas

i think thats it. im 3rd in tassie targa B series. lacks speed at Symmons Plains, almost on the money at Baskerville.

so for the money ive spent, (about $12,000 not inc tyres) its good value.

What brand of slotted disc you running on the front?

After Calder yesterday, more then ever i believe that if you want a track GTSt, then the RB20 is about the last thing you should consider going to town on. My car is a long way off being the quickest car around, but i feel its got respectable pace and i cant keep the brake rotors up to it, and the suspension fo rhte 2nd time in the time i have owned it is up for a major overhaul. So already have new shocks and upper control arms, now for tie rod ends, cradles bushes etc etc. This is going to cost almost as much as an engine rebuild

And a few session with 1.5-1.6bar wound in and no problem. Though when the car was on the dyno the mechanic told me to the Apexi boost gauge read a little higher so it is probably more like 1.4-1.5bar
