well i was on the way home last week and all of a sudden i lost boost and the turbo made the most horrible screaming screeching sound I've ever heard . lucky i was a few streets away from integra so i drove in and got anthany to have a look at it. they took of the turbo and sent it back to GCG who claim that it spun a bearing due to oil contamination. OIL CONTAMINATION! in my car i don't think so! the turbo has only been on the car for 10,000ks and when the turbo was bolted up it had a fresh oil change with motul full synthetic and since then I've changed the oil twice.

they said it could have been coursed by rust in the oil lines. Anthony is looking into that now but i doubt it, there ain't no rust on my baby. so as you can probably tell by my tone I'm piiiissssseeeeddd!

GCG said the will give me a special consideration and only charge me parts which is about $650 so i guess thats ok but i still have to pay integra automotive labor of pulling the turbo on and off so I'm looking around $1300, my prob is i still owe my dad $600 from when i had the turbo first put on.

man why can you love and hate your car at the same time. Venessa (name of my car) why do you keep doing things like this to me. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

its not hard to take the turbo off yourself and send it to GCG.. you could have saved yourself $600 in labour.. also if you still have the stock oil and water lines, id change them with flexi lines..

how much are flexi lines worth?

Hey guys... Come on, we're talking about GCG turbo's here, not some backyard outfit.

There are a lot of things that you need to take into consideration - what these guys go through every single day, they probably get a dozen of these claims a week and 90% of them are probably due to the owners (or mechanics) failure to keep up maintenance on the turbo, so when they get one like this they have to look at it in an unbias way...

Im not saying that you damaged your turbo, Im only saying that there is no possible way for you to be sure that there wasnt any oil contamination or any other unforseen problem, and there is no way for GCG to be sure that you didnt do something to the turbo or the engine to produce the damage.

GCG have been great to me, very helpful and informative and willing to chat... They wouldnt have the name that they do if they didnt do a good job.

You can please some of the people all of the time or all of the people some of the time, not both.

Sorry to hear it though mate, I wouldnt be happy either.

Hey guys,

I have recently had a similar problem, I got my turbo high flowed through rank rotary in melbourne.

less than a month after i got it back, the thing shit itself. i took it back and they sent it away (not sure who did the high flow, they wouldnt tell me...)

and then i got the same story of oil contamination.

they refused to rebuild it under warranty, in the end they only charged for parts and rank rotory who are now teamed with sabaddin automotive payed for half of the bill. robert and pete were extreamly helpfull. as for the mystry turbo shop, im still discusted!

For the money, I would always buy a Garrett over a highflow.

But I think Mick is right though, they cant be certain unless they are told by the mechanics doing the work otherwise, even then how do you know they arent full of it. Sucks you cant afford a Garrett let alone a replacement highflow.

Ive got a GCG modified Garret GT30 / 71R ball bearing turbo and it is Super responsive, the reason is that it has a smaller rear housing and impeller than the normal GT30 but is still good for around 230 - 250 rwkw.

Mine makes full boost ( 18psi ) at 4,000rpm, Ive never had a problem with lag at all.

You should go for a Garret ( in my opinion) :P

Mate "Venessa" is dead sexy, you could never sell her no matter how much she costed you. Hell i would put an rb26 with driveline before upgrading. Very nice looking motor car.

thanks man! and your right i will never sell her no mater what. even if i bought an r34gtr with all the trimmings i would still keep Vennesa. although i have though about buying another r32 as well and doing a rb26 conversion, but i couldn't do that to Vennesa. it has allot to do with the how i feel about a cars character and personality. with a different engine Venessa would be a different car to drive. and i love her the way she is
