everyone knows how horrid the r34 gtt stock gauges are so im about to replace them with a set of defi gauges. if i purchased another 2 i would get a good deal.

so the question is, what 5 gauges should i get? i understand that boost, water pressure, oil pressure, exhaust temp, manifold pressure are popular ones.

basically what 5 gauges would u set up in your car if u had the chance

havent fitted them yet to the r34 yet took them out of my ceff when i sold it and now i have the r34 i'll whack them in when i get some time (and a sandwhich plate)

i went the white black outs exept for the tacho its the other version as they didnt make a black out tacho (bugger)

got them through cj motors off the silvia forums he's in brisbane and super fast turn around for stock...i highly recomend him.

apparently the exhaust temp will also give you a hint as to when stuffs leaning out...or so ive been told by a few workshops so im looking into sourcing one before i install the rest of the set..

be sure to post pics when its done man!!!

they been going for around the $215 mark but ive seen some for $250.

how much did this brissey guy give em to ya 4

I have,

Oil temp

Oil pressure

Water temp

Exhaust temp

Fuel pressure

Turbo

5 mounted in the centre part where air cond stereo etc used to be

and near the a pillar

you've also got to mount the control box somewhere too. so keep that in mind!

but this is in a 32 gtr

im not a expert but could someone explain why oil pressure would be more importent then......lets say for arguments sake manifold press?

just to get a better understanding of what my setup on my type of driving could be suited for

manifold pressure would be quiet similar to boost pressure/turbo... (i think)

oil pressure is probably the most importiant out of the lot, without pressure how are your internals going to survive!!

Because low oil pressure is a hell of a lot more pressing problem than low manifold pressure and indicates a serious problem such as oil pump failure, oil surge etc. Something you'd be really keen to playback after a hot lap.

Besides the manifold pressure gauge is for a NA car if i am not mistaken.

Horrid? Nope. I think they aren't bad for stock gauges unless you are aiming to impress Paul and Vin when V-tec kicks in yo.

Admittedly I've upgraded to the Nismo gauges but hey, they work.

I'd like to see -

1. Dose/flutter meter

2. KM's to Noble Park Macca's

3. RPM till V-tec kicks in yo

4. $ left till I've payed the car off

and last

5. Number of Bush cops I've noted on the way to Noble Park Macca's

:)

Because you car's blood is oil, no oil = dead engine. Low oil pressure = problems so it's nice to know what's going on.

Manifold pressure means nothing unless your floor pan falls out when you exceed it's limit, most likely from too many NOS shots.

If your oil pressure has dropped off, the damage is already done.

Especially @ 7000rpm. IMO the oil pressure isnt that much of a help (over the stocker gauge). As ye, once you've done your dinner... thats it.
