I'm sure the performance will be hardly better than a relatively modified R34GTR. It's not not quite in supercar territory so its almost certain that it wont live up to the hype.

For the money it's a damn good buy for a standard car (even if its not quite able to show the Porka turbo whats what, its still under half the price!). As always, you could spend the same amount of money and modify the crap out of an R34GTR and get something that will be quicker everywhere, but its just not the same as having the latest and greatest model/variant/facelift model etc :D

Who said that the rb26 would be in the same form it was 18 years ago, its like anything with age you make improvements.

ive got nothing against this new beast. but i think it should go by a different name. the GTR finished production in 2002 for a good reason.

its like a tv series, if you make to many shows people loose interest, sure the first few years may be great, but then the writers struggle to come up with new ideas and it becomes boring.

at the end of the day all im saying is a great new car should have a great new name, and maybe in the years to come this could be looked at as another one of nissan's greats.

Dude are you serious?

Please tell me you're not one of these people who think the GTR name started with the R32. The GTR name has been around much longer than that, and it took a break after the C110. It's had several different engines which aren't RB26's. The RB26 engined GTR was stopped because it was an old engine that was struggling to meat world emission standards and didn't fit into Nissan's plans to make the GTR a global car. Kinda like the SR20 turbo'd silvia's.

For all we know this new engine will be the RB26 of the modern era. It is already known that the car will out perform any previous GTR's by lightyears (in factory spec).

Yes the RB26 is a great motor, but the motor in the new GTR is developed from the VQ35 line which is the only motor to make the Edmunds worlds 10 best motor's list since the list started, and I'm pretty sure if it was a choice between an old RB26 and the new motor 99% of people would take the new one every day of the year.

Of course if the new motor becomes plagued with problems and the new GTR is a donkey please ignore the above :D

Did you mean to say that the VQ35 is the only motor to make it on the list every year since it started?

It'd be a very short list otherwise :D

Steve from Just Jap has ordered one for Targa next year, will be interesting to see if it is as difficult (impossible) to race as the Porsche turbo and gt2 are.

re importing....until Nissan decide to import them they are available to import via SEVS (once the intial complaince is worked out). For instance S15 can be imported from Japan if they were built between their jp release and and their Aus release date. And of course rally import can be done at any time

And it finished production in 2003.

The thing that makes me moist is that when they release this beautiful yet aggressive looking beasty to the world, (hopefully) the price of the R34 GTR's will drop just a bit further and fall into the reach of someone extremely deserving of one.

Like me.

Midnight purple 3 V-Spec, Midnight purple 3 V-Spec, Midnight purple 3 V-Spec, Midnight purple 3 V-Spec....

So, according to the above info, JDM 2008 GTR's will be between 8-8.5 million Yen. This is about $90KAUD raw in Japan. If this was to be SEVS or grey imported it would be around the $125K mark on road.

Also, UK Nissan dealers have estimated that the 2008 GTR will be on sale from £55K with the following (unconfirmed) spec:

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
