The panel is secured by a number of screws. Only the forward facing section need be removed and is easy to replace if needed.

You will find as I have that no foriegn matter flicks up into the cooler at all, I have had mine removed for almost 3 years and no damage what so ever (including a few trips on open gravel roads).

On the dyno people:

why bother telling you that it was hot?

Even big coolers can get hot dyno tuning, especially around the intake part, you'd have to be a idiot to touch it or even want to.They probably just wanted to sell you their own intercooler kit.

In terms of getting the top part more air, you could fashion a 'channel' to direct air towards the top from the 'open' bottom half.

Them telling me that it was getting too hot was their excuse for not being able to tune out some misfiring at around 4-5000rpm, saying that it was the intercooler's fault. I'll be getting my plugs/coils checked soon as i think these might be the problem.

And yeah, i did get the impression that they just wanted to try to sell me a FMIC. Doubt i'll be going back there again. Hmm I probably could get some sort of a fin put in to deflect some air up the top half, a cold air partition and with a R34 IC things should be alright.

Thx for your ideas
