darkhorse
Hi everyone~!! My r33's shockers need replacing soon as they are leaking... and i'm not sure what brand or what kind of shockers are suitable for my car... my car already have lowered springs on (not sure what they are it was like that when i bought the car) and i like the height as it is... as i spent a fair bit of money getting the car, i wanna minimise on spending too much money at the monent, but i wanna get a set of reliable and confortable shockers, anyone got good ideas? Kyb a good brand? how much should i expect of fitting? Cheers~! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/187056-which-shockers-should-i-get/ Share on other sites
Madaz
don't skimp too much on shocks as with noy so good ones you'll have not so good handling and bad driving experiences Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/187056-which-shockers-should-i-get/#findComment-3377883 Share on other sites

Hotwire
great~!! i got set of kyb quoted for 640, but yours from car torque seem to have a better price... do they have different models for r33 in they kyb range? (and where is car torque?)cheers~ Yep, thats probably their normal price. Get a price from SA Suspension Centre: http://www.sasuspension.com.au/contact.htm and either get Car Torque to match it (if they are closer to you) or you could just buy from them. Car Torque is at North Terrace Kent Town (just next to the city) and SA Suspension is at Ween Rd Pooraka. And in Australia, they only sell KYB Excel G. I enquired all over Australia to see if they have different models and unfortunately they dont. Hope this helps some more Edited September 28, 2007 by Hotwire Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/187056-which-shockers-should-i-get/#findComment-3378891 Share on other sites
Race__24
Go into Car Torque, they gave me a good price, just mention you're from SAU. I just got a set of KYBs from them and got a pretty good discount. I'm happy with them for what i do. When you go in the door go to the left and talk to Julie. She's really nice and will help you out Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/187056-which-shockers-should-i-get/#findComment-3378971 Share on other sites

Hotwire
Andz: Suspension is actually really easy to fit yourself. Get some quality springs (Whiteline, NOT kings) and the shocks of your choice and have a go fitting them yourself. If you dont want to do the fitting, i'm sure there are a few shops around that will do it for you, Action Suspension at Edwardstown comes to mind. Generally steer clear of Pedders though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/187056-which-shockers-should-i-get/#findComment-3389117 Share on other sites
Nightcrawler
Andy see if Sydneykid can get the group buy Bilsteins/Whiteline setup for your GTR. Keep in mind almost ANYTHING you buy that is non-coilovers will be much softer than the stock GTR ride - I think that is a good thing - but you may like it hard - if you don't, the Bilsteins are firm without being ridiculous. andz
go some hks hypermax 3 sports or some trust/greddy type s!! top quallity stuff! cant go wrong yah ive looked at these but they're coils thanks Andrew ^^ and hotwire, i'd have nfi what's the legal height Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/187056-which-shockers-should-i-get/#findComment-3391048 Share on other sites
Madaz
why do you not want adjustable coil overs? finding out you ride height is as easy as tape measure from center of your rims to the top of your guard or from a level surface ground to guard then when installing new suspension you know what height it was and where to set it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/187056-which-shockers-should-i-get/#findComment-3391069 Share on other sites
Oosh
What's this talk of coil, non-coil, etc. Skyline suspension design is a coil over shock absorber type front and rear, stock standard or after market, that's all the same type. Deluxe
I think they be talking about a Coilover not a Coil over........ Being the whole strut, spring and shock all in one with many adjustments! Such as Ryans ISC Coilovers!! Look if you don't want "Coilovers" then the best bet and most used thoughout Skylines would be the Bilsteins/Whiteline setup! This is what i run because it came in the car when i bought it! Extreamly happy with it! If i were to upgrade id be getting some Coilovers!! Madaz
i run ISC coils and are very happy so far Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/187056-which-shockers-should-i-get/#findComment-3391406 Share on other sites
Oosh
It amounts to the same thing, some are just easier to separate than others, but they're all "coilovers".
