Girgor sent me a PM today saying about this.

Anyone ever heard of this being done?

I think this is how it goes....

Open the wastegate on the turbo and the exhaust gases should go out of that instead of spinning the turbo which stops making compressed air and results in the slowing/disabling of the turbo?

Does this work?

Does it do damage to your car in any way?

What is it like when the turbo does kick in if even?

Any info would be great as I'm a little confused

What you said is right, goes out the wastegate hole before spoolin up the turbo, just not all of it.

No damage to the car just less air going in so ECU will fuel-up as necessary.

How you would do it i don't know?

Cool, ah it's just because I'm a inexperienced drive and would rather ease the boost of rather than start off with it fully boosted. It depends if I'll do it. If I can control the power than it will be fine and I'll just leave it.

Maybe you should of purchased a different type of vehicle if your in experienced? Like said above a civic.

exactly.. shouldve bought a civic... its ppl like u (not directly u) who go and purchase hipo cars without even knowing how to drive (any monkey can steer a car, thats what driving is about) and then go and get urself killed and other ppl giving the rest of us a bad name

i had a problem with my boost controller where it was holding the wastegate open when you changed gears. so in the next gear you would start to get positive boost at about 5500rpm. it was gutless. there is a hill just out of town where if i boosted it from the bottom i could normally hit 100kmh by just before the top, but i was boosting up it when i first discovered the problem. i hit third at about 80kmh and no boost. by the top i had dropped back down to about 60kmh. it was a pretty steep hill.

yes disconnecting the wastegate flap will give you no boost, but it will also make the car completely gutless. it would be like driving a natro that has done about 1,000,000kms and is due for a rebuild.

if you are really worried just disconnect the high boost solenoid. but it standard form they aren't that much of a handfull. i went from a manual magna to a stock manual 33 and was rather dissapointed. i thought it would actually notice a decent performance difference but i didn't. it wasn't until i started modding it that it actually seemed to have any go.

its just mate if u cant control the wow of a R33 gtst which in my opinion is a gutless overweight barge like all R33 then u have issues with driving.. how old r u..?

but having the GTST will make u learn quicker.. now try holding the right down at full sing in a GTR around a 40kph corner in 2nd.. and that is where ur schooling takes effect.

Yes, replace the actuator spring with something that opens at 0psi and then use a boost controller of some sort to make it run more boost when you want it. It won't damage the car - with no extra air going through the AFM the ECU will still find itself within its standard parameters. It might throw up error codes if it notices that its not boosting when it should, but in a pure "mechanical failure" perspective it should cope with being run permanently off-boost.

Of course, your car will drive like shit. You need to run a certain amount of boost to make up for the intake restriction that is the compressor and intercooler piping. The engine would run worse than NA if you set the wastegate actuator to open at 0psi. Couple that with the taller final drive from a car set up to expect more midrange, and you'll get something that even a Camira driver will think is slow.

But, as other people have said, if you don't think you can drive a turbo car then don't. You had another thread trying to get some kind of electronic speed limiter, and now you're trying to un-boost a turbo car. Have you considered that the common thread (and the easiest thing to replace) in all of your car-related problems is, well, you and your choice of vehicle?

not only the added restriction of the turbo and the cooler but the lower compression of the turbo motor. at 0psi boost even at 5000rpm they couldn't pull a drunk sailor off your sister.

just take off the hig boost solenoid, leaving it at 5psi. if the car is only stock and at 5psi you won't be much quicker than a commodore. if that is too much power then i can sell you a push bike.

I've always wondered about that phrase.

Considering how long he's been out at sea with only his hand for company, I reckon it'd be really hard to pull a lonely guy on shore leave off any piece of skirt that showed an interest and a pulse.....

yeah i always wondered too. it is a bit like "cheap at half the price"........ most things are cheap at half the price.
