Anyone Have A Stock R33 Gtr For Compliance (willing To Pay $$$)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am in a bit of a situation with compliance. Compliance have advised my car is too heavily modified to be complied without having a stock R33 GTR onsite for 1 to 2 weeks.

My importer is also trying to organise a car but he has not been able to do this yet.

EDIT - Ive decided that I should probably sort this out directly with the importer and compliance workshop.

This post was made while on holiday so I should have probably put more thought into it before posting....

Regards,

Gareth

speaking from experience, how definite is the 1 - 2 weeks time frame? Compliance and time frames don't work well together, i find a factor of 10 fits the real world.

maybe a import yard/dealership could help? maybe one of the SAU traders? i don't know if 'all blitz' is still selling cars

EDIT: by selling, i mean, possibly has an un-owned R33 GTR that could be given up for a few weeks

What parts are you talking?

Sounds like highmount turbos along with other things, in which case someone i dont think you'll find one easily.

Being the donor car will be stripped of its parts to go onto yours, someone probably wont just 'give' you their car to let some random strip it and then re-fit.

Compliance rules arent exactly hard to understand, you should have known before bringing a highly modified import into the country that it wasnt going to pass.

Yes I understand the compliance rules.

I would not personally call the car heavily modified, when I bought it I was not aware of all the modifications. I only knew about what the importer told me. I dont believe he was fully aware of the modifications either.

The turbos are stock as far as I know, its mainly the number of small changes.

And this was through a broker, through a company.

I will give the importer some time to see if he can sort this out for me, I am offerring to pay some money for it but I am not exactly rich.

The car would be used for compliance purposes, once I am past compliance its all fine.

Anyway, I will await an update from the importer.

Apologies for the random post, Ive been a little stressed over getting the car on the road.

Gareth

may i ask what happened? does it have to be a R33 gt-r?<

PM me if you really want to know....

I think you'll find that not many (more likely no-one) will donate their GTR to get stripped of necessary parts needed for complying your car then put back together...

Maybe you should state which necessary parts are needed to comply your car, rather than someone hand over their whole car to make up for your importer's inspection skills....

doesnt seem right you should have to fork out extra money because the broker didnt no the item he was importing for you ?

id be telling the importer he has until X date to get the car so it can be registered...

Working on that with the importer, I am really frustrated now. Its disrupting my holiday and the car is still not registered after over 6months!

As for forking out extra money, too late. I've already been screwed over time-wise, with an incorrect valuation, and stroage fees.

Anyway, I've decided that the post was a little pointless so Ive edited my first post.

sounds painful. good luck though.

lesson learnt - if you're not sure what you're doing with imports, buy a car that is complied and registered here already.

you might find that the 'cheap' self import and compliance costs the same as a importer doing it all then selling it with a margin for him.

Thanks, the main lesson is to be more careful of which importer you use.

Or buy locally....

Care to elaborate rather than just making accusations champ?

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
