Hi, I am modifying an R32 GTR, I will be replacing the stock intercooler, adding an oil cooler, catch can and I'm thinking about changing the radiator. Now what I want to know is, has anyone used the Cooling Pro stuff sold by Just Jap, If so what is it like? All these items I have listed I was thinking about buying from Just Jap, the cooler is their Drag spec which is a bar and plate 600x300x120 with 3in inlets. I was also looking at the 19 row super light oil cooler kit, catch can and 3 core radiator. Has anyone used these products from Just Jap, or had any problems with them? They are quite cheap in comparison to name brand items, but what is the quality like?

I would'nt bother. When your radiator stuffs up then buy one.

But for the time being spend your money on something else.

Ok, I am aiming for 350awkw, will be changing turbos, cams, etc, how good is the stock radiator? Not that it is too much an issue, I really want to know what the cooling pro intercoolers are like, and the oil coolers sold by just jap? Thanks

A lot of people have used Just Jap stuff and haven't heard any major complaints.

The stock radiator is alright I guess, but its basically 20 years old and you definitely cant go wrong upgrading to a thicker alloy one.

Definitely good to pay attention to all the cooling gear if you're gonna be doing some track work at those power levels (similar to mine)

Yeah, dont plan on doing any track work, just a daily driver, but I want it to be reliable, the main reason I ask is that Trust cooler of the same diamentions I have been quoted $1300, or $500 for the cooling pro unit, oil cooler, $1200 for a trust unit, or $400 for cooling pro? There is a substantial difference in price, now obviously the Trust units will be better quality, but for street use how reliable is the cooling pro stuff? Its good to know that you havn't heard any problem with them, I just want to do abit of research before committing to buy, ifthey are no good I will ust have to fork out the extracash and get the Trust units?

From what I know, the Just Jap gear is from China. That being said, China gear these days seem to be getting better.

It depends on whether you reckon its worth paying extra going for the branded gear, for the slightly better flowing and cooling rad's and intercoolers. But IMO even if you went the Cooling Pro stuff, it would still be a massive upgrade over stock gear, and that they are pretty good bang for buck.

I personally use an ARC intercooler core and a Trust oil cooler kit so I can't give you any guarantees on the Just Jap stuff. The radiator is still stock for now mainly cause I ran out of funds :D

Ps. Where are you getting your quotes for the Trust oil cooler? That seems quite expensive

Quote was from CRD, although I think he said he would do it for $900 cause I was also buying other parts, But that is still more then double the just jap item. You know any places in Sydney that are selling them cheaper? Would love to know :D

I use a cooling pro radiator. It has 2 problems, both of which I'm pretty they have fixed with the current ones they are selling. The upper mounting posts are in slightly the wrong position and the cap doesn't seal perfectly. As for cooling, it does an absolutely brilliant job.

I haven't used the other things you mentioned however I have driven a GTR on the track with a trust oil cooler and stock radiator and it works very well. Much better than my cheapy. I needed the radiator to make up for the not so good oil cooler.

Thanks for the info, just didn't quite understand this part, are you saying that the stock radiator is better then the cooling pro one, or are you also using the cheap oil cooler and use the cooling pro radiator to improve cooling?. If so what oil cooler are you using? Thanks again for the info, just want to make sure I buy the right products. :D

most trust parts are NOT made in china. some of their new cheapshit line of parts (like their type M intercoolers) are made in china.

abo bob is saying he drove a car with a good quality oil cooler and just a standard radiator, and that combo controlled engine temp much better than his original set up of cheapie oil cooler and stock radiator. this meant he upgraded to a better than stock radiator (in this case cooling pro).

I don't know what adam means...but seriously a radiator is a pretty simple thing. If it seals and cools water then it works. No way the 1300 trust one (or 900 cheapy from CRD) is going to perform noticeably better than a 300 Just Jap one.

The only problem I found with the cooling pro radiators is the filler part is only pressed in rather than welded, so after some time it'll break off! But this isn't limited to the just jap radiators, i believe a few others are the same!

If you get one, I'd get that bit welded on to catch it before it happens. But then again, it does have a 12month warranty where they'll replace it if it breaks. Some of my mates are on their 2-3rd radiator!

I also don't think that the cooling of those radiators will necessarily be better than your stock one (provided it's not stuffed)

If it were me, I'd invest more time and money into increasing the air flow through the radiator because I believe that's where you'll see a bigger benefit!

have a look at say a nismo radiator. then have a look at a cooling pro radiator and you can judge for yourself how the quality compares. I'm not sure what you are expecting though considering a good japanese ARC or Nismo radiator is tripple the price. i mean japanese companies are not all money hungry rip off merchants. their products cost what they do because they invest money in research and development, quality staff training and high salaries, strict quality control standards, latest technology equipment and high quality base materials so the products you get are very good.

very true.my temp is absolutly peaking at the track on a summers day.not good at all.and i have 182rwkw in a gtst.

cooling mods so far:vented bonnet, oil cooler, fmic and radiator air guide.

if you want loads of air flow take your front bumper off.
