Did like 200 down the straight went nuts i swear slicks grip like all hell and jump on the brakes and the thing WILL pull up...

Best advise Listen to what the instructor has to say they will help you drive faster. Just Remember its not your gear box and have fun :whoops:

We sell them where I work, they seem pretty popular, the boss has been on one and reckons its a bit of fun, and of course it would be, thrashing someone else's car on the track :whoops:

You're probably talking about ryan? He thinks he's micheal schumacher since getting that job!

I did this about 4-5 months ago.

will there be others there on the day..oh yeah big time..

it's a processing plant.

basiclly you get there sign in.

wait around,

finally get called into the briefing.

takes about 30 min.

then they line u up, (there about 20-30 in each group.)

put on a suit/helmet, get your pic taken for a certificate at the end.

then line up again and wait for the car.

this took a little over an hour on my day

finally they strap you in.

you get out there trash the tit's off the car

(there something cool about having an instructor, yell just as you turn in to the corner, "f**ken drill it")

as Mav said the slicks are to die for, literally able to go full throttle on turn on of the clubman circuit in a 250odd kw V8 with no chance of loss of traction.

and yeah at end of main straight doing in the region of 180-200 and brake pedal flat to the floor just ot have the car squirm a little and just stop.

However, (is there always a however) these are NOT v8 supercars by along shot.

they are pretty well stock fal/commo with stripped out interiour, cage, body kit and slicks.

the motor felt stock...(well a thrashed stock one anyhow)

the car was set up to under steer not over steer so twits that don't realise throttle have mroe than on and off don't spin the thing. (I tried to get it sideways but the front just kept washing out on me first)

that been said it's still great fun

basiclly listen to your instructor do what they tell you and they will give you a great experience.

you just gotta look out for the drifting geminis that will be going faster than you... ;)

but seriously, there arent geminis on the track at the same time luckily.

If you get ryan, just ask for a different instructor, as he is getting soft these days and likes to be driven around like miss daisy. :P

If that were the case you would be my no.1 perfect customer!

If you choose a holden, try and get 'bluey' as its the newest and fastest or supercheap. If you go ford they are all pretty similar. i usually have 'ice freddy' dont ask where they get some of their names...

    • People still have Skylines? I thought they're non-existent now.
    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
    • They do that at random every now and then, with almost no detectable cause. Mine has done it a couple of times (over 25 years!!). Never worked out why.
    • I don't post on here and have been lurking for some time now. Many of the topics have helped me out more times than i can count. I was racing yesterday (11/9) and blew a front right CV shaft. I have spares so I popped a new one in. A thread i read previously said to check the engine mounts if you blow a front CV. Upon inspection, the front right mount was completely separated from the upper plate. This discovery saved me time and money, because i would have blown another CV if i went back out. Just wanted to thank you guys and wish everyone luck with with their builds. (Now if we could only come up with a solution for my power steering belt flying off after hitting the rev limiter, lol)
    • Either way he still need those style of spacer to go into the manifold because the photo he currently has is not going to work
