Hi All,

My new S2 RSV is being complied in Brissie at the moment. I have a few questions and issues, as well as potential offers for susp. and bodykit swaps and deals - pending actually registering and driving the car for the first time...

1.

My first and most important issue is that I need a S2 Tiptronic Airbag Steering Wheel. Car has a Nismo sports st wheel fitted (looks brand new!) which I would gleadly do a deal on to get my S2 st wheel with the gearchange buttons... Can get one from Japan for $250 posted but haven't found one in good nick yet on Yahoo Japan and need one ASAP to comply the car... HELP!

2.

The car has Tein adjustable coilovers (not sure which model yet) and I am pretty sure they will be a little firm for our family needs and so I will be selling them, or looking for a swap (with a little cash my way - or favours!) for some non-standard aftermarket (lower) springs and shocks. MORE ON THIS ONCE I DRIVE IT!

3.

The car has a full Dolphin S2 body kit which is a little too low for our driveway. Looking to SWAP for a (sonic silver preferred!) Dayz bodykit, or maybe only the front bar. MORE ON THIS ONCE I'VE PICKED IT UP ALSO!

4.

Car also has optioned Recaro Garage Impul front seats which we may not want. Again, we'll be driving it first to see, but if they're no more comfortable for my wife than standard S2 fronts then we'll have them up for sale soon... darrinspencer just got a pair from yahoo japan for $1600 delivered, after a wait, so my price would be a little lower than this considering I need some S2 standard seats in return. WILL UPDATE AFTER PICK UP...

5.

Car has an aftermarket BOV fitted, which also may not be needed. Not sure of brand yet but looks like a HKS or Blitz... MORE TO COME!

If anyone wants to get in early with offers or bids, that's fine, but please understand that I can't give a firm price until after I take delivery of the car... will post up more pics at a later date!

...And I need the Steering Wheel more than anything else right now!!!

Ta!

So I take it the existing Nismo wheel is a non airbag model? I guess so because thats most likely to cause issues with compliance

The coil overs MIGHT be rebound and damper adjustable .. so you might be able to soften them up.

if the adj valving does not help you could always go for a slightly softer spring rate?

why not just wind the coil overs up a bit and keep the existing kit? dont forget your going to be up for a bit of $$ getting the kit fitted and paint matched to your existing body colour ( the cars that is not yours haha )

In regards to the steeringwheel - perhaps someone listed in the thread of Stagea parts sellers could help? either that or find a wrecker here that might be able to help.

so im not understanding why your getting a stagea

if your removing everything good about it?

kinda pointless, buy a random wagon..

because its usless here in australia if he cant change the parts to standard as they will not pass it for compliance here.he also stated he was THINKING about changing the bits and pieces after he has driven it a bit.but to get it passed it needs stock suspension stock exhaust etc etc the way it was manafactured ....................................

Some good suggestions there ssshonky!!! for sping rates etc... If you look at the photo of the interior you can see clearly that the steering wheel in a Nismo sports style... very different to stocky... and if someone has a sonic silver (that's one of only 2 silver colours S2 stageas come in) S2 Stagea then a quick switch and nobody gets stung.

For the other confused respondants, like yokotas13 :P I am importing the Stagea (my third personal import) because 1. the Camry is a slug, 2. the Stagea has 220+kW (with GTR cooler, boost,Nismo exhst, etc), 3. it is RWD and weighs 110kg less than an AWD model, 4. it has nice big wheels, 5. carries a load better than my last 2 Skylines (with better power to weight!), 6. is clean and straight and 7. has only 60,000km and (secret reason no.8!) because it's cheaper than an Audi RS4 Estate... They, as far as I can see it, are the good reasons to buy a Stagea over a Forester XT or Falcodore Wagon! The body and susp. mods, while a wonderful bonus, are not the real reasons (although they may make some money back for a highflow!)!

I am not changing any parts to comply the car - that's cared for... I am forecasting that the suspension/seat/18's combo may not suit the roads where I live and where my wife will drive our kids around - pending actually driving it first. When you live on a poorly constructed and maintained piece of hilly and narrow blacktop, coilovers and a low bodykit are not going to improve the driving experience (I have only just sold my last modified car which had adjustable coilovers and on the softest setting they were still less than fun). A car on hard sussie on bumpy roads, as country drivers know, will sooner or later, become a squeeky old rattlebox. I want it to last, and retain it's smooth-cruising qualities.

If you are genuinely interested in the parts, if I choose to sell them, please send me a PM!

The steering wheel is the only change I have to organise myself... any more ideas Stag community?!? HELP!

If you want to come and have a look at my wheel and the condition is good enough, I will sell it to you as previously argeed.

If it is not good enough, you can borrow it to get your car thru compliance. I do not drive my car, it just collects dust.

Most tein coilovers for the Stagea are the "Wagon" series which have 4 kg front and rear springs which not firm like typical coilovers.

I have a set in my car. Tein do make a HA model aswell which are alot heavier.

Will they pass your Impul seats for compliance. I have my standard series 2 seats lying around.

You may find it hard to swap your Tein's as they will only suit RWD stagea's due the fronts being different. Most ie 90% of stagea's around here are AWD.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Dolphin kit is massively low - even stock suspension is not enough to raise it to legal height

My TEIN HR fronts where also not enough with the collars adjusted to full height - I had to add some spacers (fat arse washers) to mine to get a legal height.

As to ride comfort - they are fine - my ride got far worse when I put back on my 18" deep dish gold and chrome rims (Vertec VR5 Manaray Sports) with 40 rubber... amazingly enough the road noise was also far worse with the 18" directional Bridgestone pretenzas that where on them than what I was getting from my factory wheels with cheep Ozzie tyres on them (Talon sports from Triangle??) - far, far louder!!

One thing I will recommend as a must for this kit - eye lids on the headlights - takes away the big arse square look that they have!

To bad you are in a different state - I have now sitting as spares:

Front and rear stock suspension

Stock exhaust

Stock S2 stagea rims with brand new tyres

And unfortunately due to ADR rules - My HID headlights are cut rudely out of my car and sitting in a plastic bag!

BTW - to go way off topic - this is awesome!

Hey Guys & Girls...

Still looking to swap at least my front bar for a Dayz item. Surely there's someone who lives close to the city and can have a lower front lip without fear of cracking it every time you get home!!!???

Straight swap! (Pref. SE Qld NNSW but could make it work other ways!)

    • I much prefer that to an actual oil pressure issue, never would of thought it would of been a volt drop issue but SAU brains win again. Guess ill be turning down the oil pressure limit for the track and hunting some grounds. Ill hopefully update this thread with some high oil pressure and solid ecu voltage logs.
    • You've just discovered a really good reason to tell yourself, yes, I do need to buy an aftermarket ECU. Put the MAF in the bin. Slap in the new ECU and have a think about what turbo sounds you prefer.  Do you want a 90's style BOV wooosh? Do you want a hektik tsututututu?  Mate, can't go wrong. Just gotta get that ECU and the world is your oyster.
    • Hi. Iam just curisou about this topic. I saw this video. It is about Greddy Type FV2. I know that BoVs are about that sound but how and when to use it? I read some topic here and from what i have understand on stock RB with MAF there will be some "problems" if you use this BoV? It vents the air in to the atmosphere and the MAF on stock car needs this air back in to the intake and not out? Or is it wrong? If so...i saw you can put some adaptor to circule air back...but does that not "loose" that sound? I saw another BoV from Turbosmart and it has two "exhaust" like ports? One is for the stock tubing for letting air back and one is for "sound" and let the air in the atmosphere? Can someone please explain? This is the Greddy one:  And this is the Turbosmart.     THANK YOU!! EDIT: So i read about this topic some more and i if i understand that correctly: That Greddy can function either like BoV or 100% Bypass valve? And that Turbosmart is what they called hybrid so you can adjust what and how many air can be vented out or back in? Is this right? THX!
    • That dirty voltage drop is the culprit I suspect
    • i cant get them all in 1 screenshot unfortunately as i just dont know how to move things around tbh, but they are all from the same log and the line crosses at the same point for all of them
