Just wondering if anyone here has tried one of the Xforce Varex Mufflers as i am interested in purchasing one for my R32 GTR and eventually hope to achieve around 350awkw ( http://xforce.com.au.tmp.anchor.net.au/cars/view_car/29 )

They have an adjustable butterfly in the middle of the zorst that re-routes exhaust gas's back through the muffler a few times when butterfly is closed, to make it quiet (but not completely cut of gas's), and with butterfly open run the standard 3/3.5/4" diameter piping

Any experiences or suggestions would be appreciated

Also will the stock 32 gtr dump - cat system flow 350 all wheel or should i look at getting a turbo back? (Xforce sell the muffler but not any piping so i would probably have to get a full 3" exhaust system and cut the muffler that comes with it off.. which seems like a big waste)

chizeers

i was looking at these nice idea...... i did a search cant recall what forum it was on a while back... but someone had a it on a drift/street car with abit of power and it stuffed up after not to long had it replaced a few times....... there abit expensive to......

OH really, humm, i'll have to check out if they come with warranty

Also someone pointed out in another thread that these are illegal so would be a gamble buying one.. but i'm yet to have a cop look into or under my exhaust (and i've been defected enough) to find out if it's adjustable so i think i'd be sweet, i would still take it off and throw the stocker on for EPA meetings though..

On the test on the site they had a wrx reading 81-85 with butterfly closed and 95-98 with it open so plenty of quiet shut and plenty of noise open

You'll need bigger than a 3" system for 350awkW.

Through my own stupidity (& cheapness) I've owned two x-force mufflers both sound awful, I wouldn't expect these varex mufflers to be any better. Spend the extra money on a 'decent' brand name muffler that people have had good experiences with and can control sound levels without the need for an adjustable plug.

uh most are 3/3.5" systems..?

Am not in the market for a system atm, my car only has a cat-back and most turbo back systems will set me back alot so am just talking about mufflers atm to run on until i get some $ together to start modding it, the xforce one in question has choices of 3 or 3.5"

If you want to reach a high power figure like that then pick an exhaust that will make that, and one you can keep (you said you'd cut the muffler to fit the Xforce- yes, a waste). If you can't afford the whole thing (and fair enough, it's not cheap) get part of what you want i.e. dump/front pipe/cat/resonator/canon and buy it piece by piece. But don't chop and change, it's a waste of money i reckon. Find out if the GTR dump is enough, if not (i reckon it isn't) then upgrade. A mate with a 32 GTR told me the exhausts on Skylines are THE biggest factory restriction (after air intake i guess) on power. He said a 3-inch turboback system adds 40hp at all fours. So don't skimp if you want big power.

3.5" all through sounds good for the power you want. Ah, you want a mild or stainless steel system? I have a mild steel setup (installed before it was imported) and has now rusted out around the resonator and sounds crap. Stainless is better if you're gonna build your car over a long period (guess you know that).

That's my 2c, sorry for ranting when all you want if a muffler  , i reckon wait til you can afford the system you want. If that adjustable muffler is part of the plan, go hard mate.

And don't forget to pick me up

Hmm, yeh i guess your right there, if the xforce muffler isn't gonna flow i'm better off just sticking with the dragger and replacing the more important things first (my cat is raped) I still have the stock exhaust from the gts-t and can chuck it on the gtr if i get pulled up as i was in the gtst, just would be nice to be able to drive without getting pulled over hehe

Guess i'll leave it how it is for the moment, am currently doing all the supporting mods and the current exhaust flows fine until i go power hunting

thx for the help
