hey all

im trying to install a gk tech boss kit and i cant seem to figure out what to do next..

i took the factory steering wheel off, dissconected the wire to the horn, now if i try and put the boss kit on, it hits the 2 peices of plastic sticking out.. (picture 1)

if i take that whole section out ( picture 2) what are all them electrics for?

I have a hicas lock bar.

Cheers

They look like the indicator cancellers. The boss kit usually has its own horn wiring. Make sure you have the correct kit for your exact car with the same factory additions. I have a BNR32 and i didnt have any problem with the cancellers, infact i dont even remember seeing them.

Maybe search for the instructions online if you dont have any.

Deren

do i really need the whole indicator click back thing? apart for a roady (which ill put the standard wheel on) im not to fussed..

i just want to make sure its just that and not something else...

i thought maybe it was something to do with hicas, but i have locked mine already so i dont think it will matter if i remove that thing or not

Aside that black box for your indicator stalk, the rest im pretty sure is the HICAS steering position sensor. If you remove it you'll just get the HICAS light on the dash which wont matter if you've put a lock bar in anyway

Wow just found this does this mean if I remove hicas IE. lock bar and pull the control box I will loose my horn

 dont be rude now

Removed all the hicas a while back and have now found my horn wont work, fairly sure it did before.

Will have to try plugging the hicas computer beck in an see if my horn works????

okay just refound this thread an am at home so can try mucking around with this this arvo

what you mean by modify the s/wheel to make it work

pretty sure the relay for the horn still clicks when the horn button is pushed

an am still using the stock wheel

so thats why my horn isn't working?

I installed the wheel before ripping out all the redundant hicas crap (i think) and my horn worked. Surely that isn't the reason for no horn now that it's all gone???

I still have the hicas box in the back, just nothing else.

Admittedly i haven't actually tried to find the fault, just pulled the button off to make sure it's connected still.

Sounds about the level of my investigations thus far, that an plugging the HICAS back in an that dont seem to work

strangely dont remember it ever being mentioned in an HICAS discussion before?

will let u know what I find need the damn thing for rego!!!!

no need to rip out the hicas sensor on the back.

you can still manage to get the indicators & horn working perfectly normal.

pretty straight forward and i had no problems fitting the GK tech boss kit to a r32 gtst!

refer to my tutorial

i wrote one on sau.com but that has to be approved first before anyone can see it so here is the link i poted on ns.com

nice thongs ;)

maybe i got the wrong boss kit? coz i cant physically fit the boss kit on the steering wheel collum thingy...

maybe im tripping, ill have a look tomorrow..

whyte do u have a picture of the boss kit (front and back)

thanks djemz ;) lol

pics of the boss kit (front & back) can be seen in my tutorial.

step #5 shows the back of the boss kit (well sorta) but you can see how it would look.

step #7 shows the front

i think its best if you post up a pic of your boss kit dj and ill tell you if its wrong or not.

cheers

    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
    • yeah, there's a country that recently started importing Skylines, I blame them.
