Hi Everyone, im a newbie to the forums and i just had my loan approved for the skyline i have my eye on. Im going from a N14 Pulsar Q to hopefully (looking at the car tomorrow) 97 ECR33 Series 2 GTS-T M Spec.

What im after is some advice on what to look for when test driving this car. I plan on having an NRMA inspection but i thought its a good idea to have an idea on what areas to look out for.

The car is Standard except for 19inch rims and a 3inch cat back exhaust. Its done 68 000km.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Matty

Also another question, what is the difference between the Standard Series 2 GTS-T and the M Spec

There's a thread as to what you should look out for when buying a skyline. It's on here somewhere. I think it's in the diy/tutorial section.

There's no such thing as a 'M spec' R33. The only m spec made was the luxury version R34 GTR's.

Thanks for the great link! Very helpful!

As ive stated above, im new to the world of skylines but just looking on carpoint:

http://carpoint.com.au/used-car/NISSAN/SKY....aspx?State=NSW : Says it is a M Spec

http://carpoint.com.au/used-car/NISSAN/SKY....aspx?State=NSW : and something like this that just says its a GTS-T

Oh these people just get mixed up with the car being a 'Type M'. It's not 'M Spec'. And for the differences between the Series 2 and type m, I'm not too sure on what they are. I don't own a 33 so I'm not the best person to be answering this. I'm sure a search will give you answers though. Pretty much any question you can think of has been covered somewhere here on sau.

The question I'd be asking is why has he replaced the standard steering wheel that contains an airbag? You'd have to be pretty stupid to do that in my opinion, unless it was in an accident and you didn't want to pay for a replacement airbag/steering wheel.

Ok i went looking around along parramatta road in sydney at all the import dealers. After about 5 dealers not having the car i wanted at the right price i stumbled accross what i wanted. 1996 R33 GTS-T Series II Spec M and black in colour.

The car has:

- 3 inch turbo back exhaust

- HKS BOV

- 17 inch Lightweight wheels

- Just imported from Japan with original japanese logbooks!

- Comes with 12 months rego and 3 years warrenty

My only question is, the car has 87 000km's on the clock. Is this alot for an import that i am paying 17k for?

Three years warranty is good, but I'd be reading the fine print on that. Might say if you change anything the warranty is void etc. For example. if you put a boost controller on and the gearbox or engine blows up you'll be up sh*t creek because they could claim your new mod caused additional strain etc. Always have to be suss on car dealers and their warranties.

Seriously though, I'd be buying privately.. so many cheap Skylines out there at the moment. Get on Carsales and have a look. Just be patient, it's so hard to do - but will be worth it in the end. Remember to factor in the price of a decent car alarm/immobiliser (if the car doesn't already have in).

I have one you could buy, mate. Not posted on here yet.

115,000k

$17500

Series 2 R33 (1997) Silver, in very good condition - this is a well looked after car inside and out. I think it is a type M, due to the factory front bar and side skirts. and floormats, even.

600x300x100 FMIC

Blitz boost controller with a low (7psi) and high (12psi) setting

Nismo Short Shifter

Full HKS Exhaust

GT25/30 Turbo

Aftermarket suspension

Exedy Clutch

18" Lightweight 5 spoke wheels, charcoal. New 235 tyres.

Dyno'd and Tuned 2 weeks ago - 200rwkW @7psi, 225 @12psi.

The turbo can run higher being a GT25/30, but injector duty maxes out at about 13/14psi.

Its my neighbours dads car. He is a member on here. And he's just furned 50 haha.... bought in nearly two years ago, selling it to buy a dedicated track car.

If youre interested PM me and i'll wander next door and take a few photos. Might even put the bonnet down properly first.

No such thing as an M-Spec.

All R33 turbos are Type-M.

Hi Everyone, im a newbie to the forums and i just had my loan approved for the skyline i have my eye on .... Any advice is much appreciated!

advice is to not get a loan for a car

how old are you?

if you are young, ie a teenager, get a non-turbo car like an R31

if you are in your 20s then do what you like, but that's my advice on the world of skylines

i know its not what you want to hear, but you could end up with something that needs major repairs in 2-3 months. my opinion is alwaysthat if you can't afford it then don't get it..

you asked for advice, so here's mine

my advice

but stock, buy clean, look for the obvious signs, if a car has been sitting on carsales for 3 months at a low price, theres a good reason

and judge the car by the person ur buying it off, is he a complete tool?

advice is as good as food, you'll take it in but end of the day ya gunna sh#% it out later on, do wat u want and don't look back, cause to me having no regrets is the best feeling

good luck mate

OK in 1 month im 20. Im in a well paying full time job and i have the majority of the money for the car, the loan is just to fill in the gap.

Im looking for a car that is completely stock that has just come from japan with reasonable low k's. So thats why im going through the dealer road. So off looking at cars tomorrow.
