hmm... i thought that sort of info would be confidential between Nissan and would-be owners like C-Red? but thanks for the info though!!! That's probably our best indication yet of what price we're looking at.

Seems like my 997 Turbo calculations were not right, but i've said for a long time $150k+ before we knew the 7.8mil japanese price.

so ~$140K + on roads... direct price comp with the new M3, cheaper than the RS4, well over half price of a 997 Turbo... can't wait for this car to destroy the new M3 (my bro works for BMW, and just says "but it's a Nissan") muaahah, going to be tasty :w00t:

my goodness people, this is a car competing against the worlds best, and you're going to right it off because you can't row with a 6 speed??? :) you'll NEVER be able to shift as quick as these boxes, EVER!

what's an OTP c-red?

nice one. no one is writing it off mate. pretty much everyone who actually understands what a DSG is has said it would be great if that is what it has. CVT or conventional auto though is rubbish in a high performance car. anyone who thinks otherwise has probably never owned a manual high performance car.

i do hope they bring it out in normal gbox....most people are so used to clutches and manuals that it's actually a chore to have to change gears with your fingers and think which one is up and which one is down and which I'm in at the moment.

Don't worry about that , you can change gears with the gearstick as well as the buttons on the steering wheel, move the gearstick forward to go up a gear and back to go down a gear . You have an indicatior on the dash that shows you the gear it is in at anytime. You can treat it just like a manual gearbox ( and it is the same as a normal nanual box) the only difference is you dont have to push the clutch in it does it automaticaly .

Believe me these are excellent boxes , they are not like normal autos with power hungry torque converters , this is why they are quicker that normal manuals, a normal auto will never be as quick as the manual in the same car with the same power.

Ah and the bonus.... people that whinge about the twin plate cluthes, won't have any problems with these...

CVT was what the honda fit has...

lol, imagine a gtr with that in it...

its a snap.

the onyl thing is theres no clutch pedal./

using a clutch pedal, timing the up and downshifts, heck, changing gears without the clutch - just making sure you have the right revs, define a decent driver.

not having a clutch pedal is like chopping one foot off... and using your hands to compensate...

baron, wasn't directed at you mate :) SOME have basically said it's a waste of space if there is no "real" manual, i just couldn't be bothered quoting at the time...

exhibit a).

if this thing doesnt have a real manual with clutch it will be severe disappointment

let's all go beat things with sticks and throw rocks

got a question, when will the car be available in dealers in Japan? I will be heading to Japan around december I wonder if I can see it in dealers? I know it will be in Tokyo show end of this month and people in Japan can get it in December, but anyone know the exact date that it will be available in dealers? thanks

I honestly cant see the problem with the gearbox. Talk about Luddites. A well driven DSG will eat a manual car. Not to mention the joy you derive from going in extremely deep, braking hard with your left foot while holding some trail throttle, loading up the 4 wheel drive then coming out of the corner in a beautifully weighted four wheel drift. I think its going to be brilliant.

I've picked up a mag over here which has the first undisguised pics I've seen. The front is very clean with some very tasteful carbon detailing on the front sides and rear. It actually reminds me a little of the Carbon Burnout Kit I had on my CPV35.

are you sure thats right shouldnt it be the other way around???

Any chance of posting these pics up? :domokun:

I've driven a DSG VW golf and i must say... it's very nice. The ability to whack it into D in traffic jams is sweet. If you do put it into DSG sequential mode, you can choose not to change the gears with flicking the knob if you don't want to. You can whack it into the middle of + & - and it'll still change gears automatically, but really hold it to redline before hard changing. Very versatile. Oh yeah, and no way can you change manually any quicker, it's official that the DSG 0-100 times are quicker then manual boxes.

Why should it be the other way around???

We'll im sure it's always been Pull back to go up gears and push foreward to go down gears, That way you are working with the car. ie; You are pushing the gearstick foreward (downshifting) as you are being pushed foreward (decelerating) and vice versa going up. I jus thought thats how all sequential style gboxes worked thas all. :(

    • See, that button sounds like perfection Duncan! My eyes really don't like light shining at them from a dash when I'm driving. Being part red colourblind, I've found for most cars that I can change colours on, I set everything to red, so my eyes see the elast amount of colour! I miss normal gauges in cars
    • bro, knowing the Japanese in  the 90's, i wouldn't be surprised if they shared components across their model lineup.
    • Maaaan so many "little" things  i rly hope my old RB20 would be "ok" and not too bad. I try to learn what and what not do i need. I look at crossmember at it looks different...even parts numbers are different. Wiring and all that i rly do not know...yeah someone mentioned the speedo thing. On that yoke clip. I rly do not know what can and cant be done "custom" so that is why iam asking to know and not be suprised 🙂  I know what it looks like
    • Oh, there's also the gearbox crossmember which will probably be different between the small box and the big box, and the wiring loom will probably need to be modified, because the plugs for the switches etc, will probably be different. And I think the speedo on the small box R34s is from somwhere stupid, like the diff, possibly, so you'd need to work out what needs to be done about that (assuming it is different). I think the thing you need to realise is that the front end of that yoke is a large hollow tube with splines on the inside that mates with the splines on the box's output shaft. It is a dedicated thing - not available "aftermarket". They were made to suit that box, by the car's OEM.
