Oil Cap And Rev Drop

Im sure its probs something normal, but anyone else have the occurance where u take the oil cap off the engine, and the car revs drop and it wants to stall but just holds on.

Just noticed it checking the oil etc....

Yes, it will be normal - it opens the inlet to unmetered air through the rocker covers.

(How can you check the oil with the engine running?)

haha nah i was checking the oil before i had started the engine as u do. Then i just thought id take a look at her "bits and pieces" and noticed the rev drop. Just curious thats all.

I wasen't aware that there was any form of Gating in the air inlet to the PCV system.

The mixture will go super-lean, so there's a fair bet it could stall.

The hose from the passenger-side rocker cover connects with the inlet pipe between the AFM and the turbo compressor.

i also had this issue with my car. It stopped as soon as i changed the oil when serviced.

Yeah its the fresh air feed for the PCV system but its not gated is it..
