hypergear
Hi Guys Just wondering if any of you knows how many KWs the Factory R33's Auto box can handle. What can be done if my desired power range is over the factory thresh hold, and how much would it cost. Thanks guys. LiQuid IcE
My R33 auto box died when i reached 180rwkw. But it was also during 40degree heat. Search MV automatics in adelaide. They do upgrade kits for the 33 boxes and are repuatable. Or Knox Automatics in Melbourne, but I don't know much about them. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t1...hl=mv+automatic http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t1...hl=mv+automatic Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/188339-thresh-hold-of-r33s-auto-transmission-and-re-enforcement/#findComment-3396542 Share on other sites
MZTRBO
I had 235rwkw with no auto trans cooler and it lasted a good six months with a fair amount of normal abuse. With a trans cooler it'd be even better. hypergear
Thanks guys. Did the transmission slip when running 235kws? also if I replace the factory clutch plate (between fly wheel and auto trans) with a brass button one will that improve power handeling? MZTRBO
I think the bands were slipping when gears would change, it was not like when it was stock. Heat kills these boxes. As liqiud said, give mv autos a call, they are the nissan auto guru's. MZTRBO
I dont know what a factory clutch plate on an auto is? When i took the auto out of the r33 there was a auto flywheel, and torque convertor. Cheers and good luck Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/188339-thresh-hold-of-r33s-auto-transmission-and-re-enforcement/#findComment-3399993 Share on other sites
Cubes
Any more power than standard and you really should look at a shift kit to prevent the slip between gears and an aftermarket trans cooler. The smooth slip between gears is what kills the box.
