I had a shed down in rockingham years ago with a mate, behind toyotaways. We would put all our cars there and work on them whenever...i ended up living there in a caravan to save money, heaps of room to play  but security was a problem...things went missing and tools got lost all the time....randoms would come in to see what we were doing. my mate ended up starting his boat spraying business there...in the end it was too much trouble to keep as a "mates place"..hence he took it over and i moved out.

somethings start with the best intentions and desires...but can turn into a loss of money and waste of time.....

but i still would like to rent another workshop as even the best backyard cant hold 7+ cars and parts!! :D....(even if i had to move in there, i'm single so no probs there))

It would need to be a really big workshop for it to work around 5-10 thousand square metres maybe even more. But it's doable it's just finacial side you'll need to worry about.

This is an example so no flaming :) .

Members, lets say like $20-30 per week. So if you have around 30-40 members, that an estimated $600-$1200 made.

Hiring of the bays: $60-$90 with 10,000sqm you could have around about 5-10 bays people could use so thats an estimated $600-900 made.

Hiring the suits: $10 thats $50-$100 made.

Lets say you have 3-4 spraying booths $40 for the week or whatever to hire + paint lets say around $400-$500 dollars worth thats estimated $1200-$2000 made.

Hiring of the tools lets say $50 for whatever you need, and if you have like 10 people working on their cars thats $500 made, if all the required tools aren't given back the price of the tool could be charged to you (to stop tools going missing).

Then you got to think to yourself. What happens if delays are made (car problems)

Extension of the hiring bays: Lets say $120 for every week or month up to you.

Then you got to work out if your going to take orders of car items (radiators, turbo's,intercoolers) and how much are you willing to charge.

Or you could even have an option of a specialist mechanic doing your work and if so how much are you going to charge?

Then you have to think of insurance of the tools and bills.

You could do monthly bookings, and with a big workshop you could satisfy everyone wanting work done on their cars.

    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
