hey whos our motor bike people here?

was just wondering if anyones used those thingy's that are kinda like the bike chains you use for push bikes but they thicker n have a key lock and naturaly designed for motorbikes.

i was thinking could use it down the shop n chain my car to any random pole i find or even a fellow friends car wrapped around our rims :) that way theres no pushing my ride up the street to mess with it unless they manage to take my wheel off with locnutz and replace it with the spare  would take a bit of effort though and looking very sketchy while doing it

just a random secruity idea that passed my mind :P next week inflatable doll left in the car (not just for a good time and to save me looking like a loner)

hey... looking at turbos for my rb25 when she arives!!

i have been looking through slouches GB and came across the 3071r and 2871r..

which would be the turbo to go for and wat housings would best suit! looking for response and 280ish even 300kw fo a later date!

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ga...86-t210306.html

cheers

Adrian, I have pondered and pondered on going gt3540 for ages just chasing the big numbers, I was even going to put my turbo up for sale last night....But reality is, I make close to 270rwkw with my gt2871r with 15psi. More responsive than most turbos and any more than 250rwkw is ridiculous for a 2wd skyline. The turbo you will need to make 300rwkw is going to disappoint you with low down reponse after sampling a smaller turbo. Sure, youll make big number but numbers are numbers. Its the way the car drives that really matters. Ive had a chance to drive both a GTR with 300rwkw and a GTS-T with 300rwkw and there is no comparison, all depends what you want out of the car obviously. If your making a hills/steetable car then sacrifice 30-40rwkw and keep it a responsive, fun car.

EDIT: GT2871R 56t for sale $1200 6000km old!

Ok LOL i may have done something really stupid, just had new turbo injectors so on a so forth installed and still adjusting to the new power. I took off possibly a little to quick and lost traction on my rear tires also into second gear. Thats not the problem the problem is since then my radiator fan is continuosly running, the more revs the car gets thru the gears the higher it runs.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!! Any idea's would be great

craig ill buy ur old rotors if there in good nik?

i need to upgrade my brakes for the 25..

as far as i am aware, they dont have much life left in them, and they need a machine...

is 30 bucks good for you? lol

i will have no need for them.

sounds like the clutch fan is stuck on.............should be as easy as getting another clutch fan

Know were i can get a new clutch fan? Also a 02 sensor lol wasnt caused thru same incident

those are both reasonably generic components. im sure you can get them from repco or one of the mechanics resellers. o2 sensors are never cheap, and you want to make sure u get a new one, 2nd hand could be a waste of time (and petrol). The clutch on the fan is possibly replacable itself (its just a little metal spigot and possibly some sleeved coil) so I reckon you could get one of those no sweat.

Had my o2 sensor replaced at road n track last year, wasnt too expensive from memory tho i dont know how much it cost specifically

Definitely agree. A large turbo sucks..

The GT28 on the rb25 and a GT30 with a .82 rear on the rb30 is the perfect match.

268rwkw... Mine had no issues getting power down in second with 225/50 16's.

I ran wider Nankang NS2 245/40 18's at one stage and they had half the grip of a decent 225/50 16. All though the 16's don't look as good. 18's just don't grip; cornering they are excellent. :D

I've also had cheapish 225/50 16's that would skate around through third gear from 80km/h until 150km/h and twitch in fourth by simply rolling on the throttle in third.

I havnt put my gt35/40r on my rb25 yet its still sitting on my desk for show lol but after reading some threads on the GT2871R iv been thinking of getting one with my tax :) what cams would you run with the gt28 to get the max out of the turbo?

oh so that wasnt on TV tonight... what episode was

Not sure if the others in the house would enjoy the result of the vindaloo on me :D

In other news... just saw the Top Gear episode with the GTR in it. The episode in one word, EPIC!

how much i wouldnt mind an iTouch

I just bought an iPod touch! Was way too cheap, only reason i bought it :bunny: ebay FTW, thats my 26th item purchased from ebay. :)

lol i dont know why you guys have so much troubles hyperlink ftw

ebay links fail. Steve knows how to fix them

are you blind stupid or both you asked for rotors the other day for R33 and i said i had some :)

take no offence i need a shower

The GT35 really is not a good street turbo on the rb25. First gear sucks second gear sucks and your left playing catch up. I've been for a little drive with a gt35 rb25det and it appeared slower through first and second than a rb25det making 200rwkw with its stock turbo. It just didn't really get up and go until 3rd+ gear. :S

yeah on my car :)

i told you the other day only rotors then i said wouldn't you want callipers also

if you search yahoon autions you will find some at a decent price

    • All of those are near new/brand new/done under 10,000km! This means something! It also doesn't necessarily mean anything.... The idea is of course to fit wider tyres and rims, and to go with engine head updates, I'm sure it will be faster the subsequent time out. But TBH the difference will largely be in driver mod between one day and the next I'm sure. To say I am unseasoned after many years away from even driving remotely fast is an understatement. Giving it half throttle and "Whoa, that's a bit excessive.." and realizing I'm doing 80kmh in a 100 zone is evidence enough lol. I have noticed that there is heat haze/steam/air/something absolutely steaming out of the car after parking it. I didn't drive it in the 40C day for testing yesterday, but on Christmas day it was ~32 and you could literally see the air coming out from the bay after parking the car. Whether that's enough though..
    • I'll take clutch for 50 Eddie.
    • Standard GTRs are boring and there plenty of them, do what ever you want to it and just remember nothing about them is cheap anymore and if you’re picky about how you want things done it gets even worse.    if it’s an n1 or something very limited then maybe care more about it’s heritage
    • Alright guys, I've got good odds the motor survives due to a majority of spare parts. Who's taking bets on clutch, who's on transmission, and who's go diff? Happy to also take bets on if it still overheats in traffic or not 😛     Car looks amazing by the way. I've never been a fan of R34 rears, so really, I don't think any body kit etc solves that for myself, but the front end looks amazing!
    • As an ex-skyline owner Going off how these things are now "modern classics", I would keep the twins and just "refresh" bits that are required for reliable power and have a car you can take out for a cruise whenever you get the itch As a idiot who cannot leave things alone Going deep into the "rabbit hole" is a easy thing to do, as previously mentioned, once you start it becomes a slippery slope, wirh lots of supporting mods, and possibly rebuilds, and unless you have a bottomless pit of funds, the car can spend most of its life sitting in the garage,  broken, waiting for parts, or building more funds For a classic like a R32 GTR Basically, a reliable OEM+ refresh, that isn't a broken garage queen, is alot better than a car that you build, then break, then fix, then break again And it isn't just the engine you need to worry about, these beasties are getting on in age, and all parts are getting, and have got, expensive, the days of picking up cheap replacement engines and other driveline parts are well and truly over The funds not spent on going a single with quality parts, and with all the other other bits required to make it happen, could be spent on refreshing alot of other parts A wise man once said "If you cannot afford 2 GTR's, you cannot afford 1", I also believe he said this about 20 years ago when you could pick up a clean R32 GTR up for around $20k My advice for a R32 GTR (the one and only true Godzilla in my mind) is to think holistically about the whole car, the body, the power train, the suspension, the brakes, and the driveline SAU is a wealth of knowledge with decades of Skyline experience,  from stock, to OEM+, to modified to varying degrees, to full on or weekend or dedicated racecars, as well as full on money pits that rarely leave their garage Treat the old girl nice and give her what she deserves, you are a lucky man to own such a classic car
