Anyone seen the R34 GTR V Spec II N1 that was sold in the "cars for sale" section?

wow.

Bought for about 90k too, way too cheap, Nissan only made 45, and most were used in Super Taikyu by Nismo. Road registered too!!

Was just looking at that ad, too. That's crazily cheap! Although, since the R35 came out, R34 GTR's have dropped dramatically in price. You can pick up mint R34 GTR's (non V-Spec or anything) in the low 40's landed and complied.

Just think, P platers in this generation are driving around in R31's and R32's... maybe the next generation of P platers in 10-20 years will be driving around in thrashed out R35's! Haha ah... now that would be a sight to see!

Yeah its been awhile!! I will be town next weekend..Coming Go Karting??

Check this thread out, it's a good read http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fa...;hl=N1+oil+pump

Your standard oil pump is rated up to around 330kws and N1 up to around 370kws. I still run my standard pump (has funky jap internals) and it's in great nick and I wouldnt have a clue how longs its been on there for, so you might not need to replace until you have had it out, but doing the crank collar is a very good idea!

Thanks Jess!!! some good reading there, might consider a higher grade pump (i like the limita launches =P) but will probablu behave and get a N1 with lotsa sump mods etc.

and i might come spectate at the go karts... a big guy like me in a small little cart for a long time, seems lik pain!! and not of the fun variety =(

f**k banks.

I applied for a loan to buy GRIM_32's GTR. Was refused because if my parents decided to kick me out of home, my income wouldn't be enough to continue to pay the loan off. God banks are so stupid. I told him that after I've sold my car, the remaining money would be paid off at the same time seeing as I have it in my bank account.

Oh looks like I miss out on my dream car, again.

hey fishpaste, +1 for Shaun no doubt.

In regards to N1 oil pumps, remember one thing; everything in life has a cause and effect.

If your prepared to take the head off and install a restrictor, maybe modify the sump, consider a catch can, maybe baffles in your rocker cover, and are prepared pay the massive $$ for an N1 pump, do it by all means. You need to decide what the car will be used for and what sort of power are you putting out. I personally feel a new standard oil pump for a street car is fine.

Have you hooked up a decent oil pressure gauge to see what its putting out......low pressure doesn't always point to bad oil pump!

ie. you can run a new standard pump in a tight engine (low km or recon motor) and have higher pressure than a loose engine (worn out motor) running a new N1 pump.

Amazing how many people blame low oil pressure on oil pumps when a crank grind and new brgs would in some cases fix the problem.

The gallery restrictor on the top of the block will even add a couple psi to your oil pressure but keep in mind (from my limited knowledge of RB engines) volume is more important than pressure for normal street use.........at high rpm, most pumps will show reasonable oil pressure anyway.

I had a quick read of the thread that Jess put a link to on the previous page (where the N1 oil pump failed) and from the little I saw in the pics, that guy has issues other than the oil pump.

One day when I do a full rebuild and have the opportunity to do other internal mods, I will definitely consider an N1 oil pump........right now I just can't justify all the $$ for the cost of the pump and labour to install......not to mention that it will throw more oil into your rocker covers if you don't attend to the other mods that I mentioned.

I didn't realize that a new oil pump was part of the 100K service??

I didn't realize that a new oil pump was part of the 100K service??

For most cars new oil pump probably isn't, but for a track raced R32 GTR its recomended that while all the other work is happening to it that you replace the oil pump at 100k service. And to me it's not really much money for a little bit of peice of mind and i do vaguley remember a conversation with shaun about it and he thought it was a good idea.

either way i'll still be dropping by boostworx and chatting with the guys there before setting it in concrete.

well I'm never catching public transport again!!

Wow! Crazy ...

And here I am worried about catching fleas, or getting a concussion from the way bus drivers drive :)

Glad I avoid public transport :)

Yeah I was reading that this morning. Did you read about the other killer? It's on the News site, too. Dude killed his 18 or 19yr old gf because he didn't want her to tell their parents he was taking drugs. He killed her, chopped up her body, took pictures of the body on his phone, went out to a party, came back, put all the body parts into different luggage bags and dumped them into a river!!

Oh and the cops found his phone and found the pics. They posted up a pic on his phone of this guy and his woman a few hours before the killing. It's crazy stuff!!

That was full on. I was at work when i heard about it and just stopped, 50 times and then decapitation infront of a bus load of ppl ya think he had problems!!!

iiiimmmmmmm bbbaaackkkkkk........

stupid lap top shit itself, 18 different viruses amd 45 spywear trojans = re format :)

215 bucks later it all sweet.

was a good excuse to upgrade to 1 gb ram too :)

soooooo much faster now!

    • I think you're really missing the point. The spec is just the minimum spec that the fuel has to meet. The additive packages can, and do, go above that minimum if the fuel brand feels they need/want to. And so you get BP Ultimate or Shell Ultra (or whatever they call it) making promises to clean your engine better than the standard stuff....simply because they do actually put better additive packages in there. They do not waste special sauce on the plebian fuel if they can avoid it. I didn't say "energy density". I just said "density". That's right, the specific gravity (if you want to use a really shit old imperial description for mass per unit volume). The density being higher indicates a number of things, from reduces oxygen content, to increased numbers of double bonds or cyclic components. That then just happens to flow on to the calorific value on a volume basis being correspondingly higher. The calorific value on a mass basis barely changes, because almost all hydrocarbon materials have a very similar CV per kg. But whatever - the end result is that you do get a bit more energy per litre, which helps to offset some of the sting of the massive price bump over 91. I can go you one better than "I used to work at a fuel station". I had uni lecturers who worked at the Pt Stanvac refinery (at the time they were lecturing, as industry specialist lecturers) who were quite candid about the business. And granted, that was 30+ years ago, and you might note that I have stated above that I think the industry has since collected together near the bottom (quite like ISPs, when you think about it). Oh, did I mention that I am quite literally a combustion engineer? I'm designing (well, actually, trying to avoid designing and trying to make the junior engineer do it) a heavy fuel oil firing system for a cement plant in fricking Iraq, this week. Last week it was natural gas fired this-that. The week before it was LPG fired anode furnaces for a copper smelter (well, the burners for them, not the actual furnaces, which are just big dumb steel). I'm kinda all over fuels.
    • Well my freshly rebuilt RB25DET Neo went bang 1000kms in, completely fried big end bearing in cylinder 1 so bad my engine seized. No knocking or oil pressure issue prior to this happening, all happened within less than a second. Had Nitto oil pump, 8L baffled sump, head drain, oil restrictors, the lot put in to prevent me spinning a bearing like i did to need the rebuild. Mechanic that looked after the works has no idea what caused it. Reckoned it may have been bearing clearance wrong in cylinder 1 we have no idea. Machinist who did the work reckoned it was something on the mechanic. Anyway thats between them, i had no part in it, just paid the money Curiosity question, does the oil system on RB’s go sump > oil pump > filter > around engine? If so, if you had a leak on an oil filter relocation plate, say sump > oil pump > filter > LEAK > around engine would this cause a low oil pressure reading if the sensors was before the filter?   TIA
