Now that I can believe.........$AU26,000 for an OS short motor that includes a full counterweight & big stroke crank with sleeves, deck plate and all the you-beaut internals.

I just can't see why someone would pay $30K for a block alone that can still pound a brg, crack a land, throw a rod, etc, etc!!

Yeah I noticed the gap was kinda big for our cars. Anyone up for a drive to the hills to help me change em for a 6pack o beers? :)

Feel free to bring the car down to Campbelltown though. i just got home from work and will be up for a bit. lol

what are your thoughts on this looks responsive enough and a little more balls than the 2871r just suggestion.

~GT2876r click me~

The GT2876R is a poor mismatch between the turbine and compressor. The 76mm compressor wheel is too big to be driven by the T28 ns111 turbine wheel.

This is highlighted on the Garrett website where they say;

* Not recommended for general performance applications

* Best suited for unique applications such as asymmetric turbo installations

Hey mate,

I work in irrigation facing Currie street. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't even know we existed, no one does!! lol. It has been decided that we have the better spot as we have windows facing the main road.. Let's just say, during uni and summer, awesome views!! lol

Anyway, the wheels...... What are you after for them? I have a mate that is a BBS fan boy who might be interested if I give it a miss. Can post pics if possible?

Cheers,

Peter.

Thought I'd move this post to Wasteland so Andrew, Joel or Matt don't smack us, lol.

Here's what they are.........haven't thought about price at this stage........265 x 35 x 18

Gap looks standard 1.1mm ?? should be 0.7-0.8mm i think mine are even 0.6mm i was planing on running large boost

FIXED

i wouldn't go any lower than 0.7mm, No need to and it effects your idle. Will bounce and pop at idle if any smaller.

It's amazing that the block costs that alone AND that Keir has blown 5! What is the exact difference in the OS block that makes it so awesome?

It is an engineering piece of art .... and people make serious power with them, that they just cannot make with a normal block

Nice find Steve - you do realise of course that it would cost you $10k+ to get it here including shipping, taxes and GST?!

Seems the price has come down somewhat .... mind you, it doesn't look like that is coming directly from OS Giken (with all of their associated knowledge and warranty that comes with it), so I guess it is from a cheaper distributor or something. Also sounds a bit fishy, since it says in 1 place 3lt (2996), but in other places it says 3.15lt. I guess that is a head gasket and piston stroke issue maybe.

Had a tinker around with the GTR last night and found that it still has the stock boost restrictor in one of the vacuum lines (Nissan put it in to meet the gentlemen's agreement and circled the line with a yellow stripe, etc etc etc).

Can't believe that none of the previous owners in Japan took it out to get a safe boost increase! Crazy.

    • I think throwing the hydraulic power steering system into the trash and converting to electric power steering, e.g. Astra PS pump would solve many issues.
    • so finally had an event i was home for that didn't get rained off or otherwise cancelled to be able to actually drive the car, unfortunately was roll racing which isnt my favourite thing ever but had an awesome night with friends and testing the car out. obviously a huge difference in driving experience with the samsonas although still without flat foot upshifts the ratios are so much nicer and actually has boost into the next gear which was not something i always experienced with the stock gearbox. but of course absolutely loving the sound of the sidepipe and for its downfalls of ruining the car in ever other way it does sound awesome at the track.   had some weird issues where it would misfire in 2nd but fine in every other gear and at the end of the night at the end of the run would have no throttle until it decided it wanted to work, so will be looking into that before a proper track night coming up in just over a week to really see the changes in the car.
