sorry for going off on a tangient, i'm a mechanic by trade and i just get frustrated lol.

to gap plugs, using feeler guages, they have all the different thicknesses on there both in thou and mm.

just find the size you want, *.8mm* then put that guage in between the electrode and the receptor at the end of the plug... its as easy as that

lol its cool man, i get frustrated with people at work who know what they are doing, but decide to ask me anyway. Damien, whats our email address? we ave all been there over a year and a half

well i had no idea about gapping a few years back and i killed my friends platnium plug! i just bashed it again the ground thinking it'll be like copper plugs and no! it wasn't

what the???? changing and gapping plugs is like the easiest thing to do on a motor, cant beleive everyone on here whinges like its so hard

whats the point in owning a modded car, or any car at all for that fact, and want to be called an enthusiast when you have no idea or no will to get your hands dirty and learn...

Fark me, workshops must make a killing out of some of you guys

end rant

you can't exepct everyone to know everything about their cars, thats why there are workshops around, professionals who do it every day. I bought my car knowing f**k all about skylines, but i know a hell of alot more know, and just because i need or ask for help for some stuff doesnt mean im not an enthusiast.
I know how to change spark plugs and have done it on the 33 but have idea how to gap - I've only heard of people talking about it but havent done it myself because it hasnt been necessary for me yet - we all got to start somewhere to gain the knowledge!

Instead of ranting I'm sure you can explain how to gap them yeah? :D When the time comes I'd just SAU-search for google it anyways.

I agree. Gapping plugs is the easiest job on earth.

However some people are not comfortable with doing it themselves until they've seen it done. Then they'll be kicking themselves because its so easy.

You simply need feeler gauges. Head to Vilis tonite with tool kit. I'll bring my feeler gauges and show you how to do it.

I can replace spark plugs but like Vu said i dont know how to regap a spark plug

and if someone shows it how to do it then i am sure it will be easy as

but not all of us are mechanically minded....just like me telling you how easy it is to work with servers

i am sure for you it would be just as hard as it is easy for me.....

but that does not make me any greater or less of an enthusiast just because i am not mechanically savvy

last time i checked...a car forum is to find out about things and learning how to do things

and that is exactly what my question was aimed at

i will bring the sparkies to villis tonight ruby

appreciate it for you taking your time tonight and showing me how its done

damn it took me soo long to write the damn post

but i still think that if someone showed it to me then it will be a lot easier understood then someone trying to tell me what to do

but thats just me.....everyone has different ways of understanding things

yeh ive learnt how to do sooooo much more to my car.. turbo swaps, injectors, oil, and many other things... and its other ppl on here i learnt from..

its good to get ur hands dirty and learn about ur car..

ohh was stopped at a set of lights on waterloo cnr rd, guy infront was over the line so he reversed, didnt stop and hit my front bar. Was pretty ok about it all at the time, said hed get his boos to ring me to sort it out.

Damage isnt that much, 2 cracks in the fibreglass, and stress marks on the bar all the way under the headlight. Now the guy denies liability and the police report was linked to an unknown driver.

Worst thing i found about doing plugs on mine was all the fking shit in the way. Take all the lines off the cross pipe, now take the bloody cross pipe off, then unclip all the coil pack plugs and take the 2 coilpack cradles off, shit now the fking strut brace is in the way..

:P took me like an hour.

if you have iridium plugs just be careful when you are gaping the because the iridium is only a few microns (1000th's of a mm) thick and if you scratch it it will come off and ruin you expensive plugs.

IMO there is no point running them as they don't do a better job than the copper plug they just do if for longer' they were designed to be fitted to cars that are hard to change plugs like 300zx's and WRX's so you don't have to change them every 5-10,000 you can stretch that out to 70,000-100,000. Platinum's are the same story.

could someone shoot me a PM with what time villies is tonight? but only if there are going to be a few peoples on motorbikes.

Weather is holding out, so I should be riding. I'll be there sometime after 7pm ... with my feeler gauges :/

If you guys thing changing plugs on an RB20/25/26 is hard, try changing plugs on a sportsbike :P

I gotta remove my tank, air box and radiator to get to my 2 plugs on the v-twin
