man did the GTR hate being driven in 45 degree weather, all kinds of random noises start apearing lol

Agreed. On the way home yesterday I had some major idle / power loss issues. Spent an hour changing the air flow meters. 1st one I replaced, went for a test drive - same problem happened.

Replaced the second one, problem hasn't shown itself again (yet - touch wood) but I'm eager to see if this afternoon changes the story.

Oh and +1 for joeleo for reconditioning the afm I lent him - I've chucked it back in and its not screwing up like before haha - thanks

the 200's back! yay! new clutch is nice, friction points a lot higher on the pedal than the last one, so its gonna take a bit of getting used to. shifts are so tight though, its awesome.

... but i apparently need to replace my turbo studs sometime soon. f**k.

that cars made an appearance on the 'stupidest things youve seen done to a car' thread on the 31 club...

... about 5 times.

Weeeell no not sure at all.... where is the inlet temp sensor? The problem is sporadic (aka in the 20 minute drive, it probably lost power/started to stall 3-4 times but a little bit more accelerator helped it out of the stuttering...)

If I can clean it or check the wires, it'd be a good place to start...

Its right at the front of the Plenum, but i doubt that is the problem.

Inside the plenum or outside? Would love a pic if anyone has one? I'll see what happens on the way home - if I get some twitching ill pull over and give it a bit of a wiggle, maybe test it with a multimeter when I get home

fuuk you ETSA

last night we where without power from 7 pm till 4:30 am, which = me getting no sleep.

we had to sit outside cos it was so hot inside.

get this, my aquarium heater is set at 27 deg. the thermometer always shows round 26 ish

when the power went off yesterday, i feared that maybe the water would cool and the fish would die,

nope, the exact opposite, it got so hot in here, the water temp went UP to 31 deg at 2:30 this morning.

by the time the place got cool again and i fell asleep it was 5:30 am

and guess what i come home to this afternoon? yup, power cut.

thanks ETSA.

That was so foul, no one bought it for even $4K ;)

What is it with these fools who do up Magnas? I saw one the other day lowered to all hell, with dark, dark tint and loud exhaust. Don't these fools know they're not a car you bling!?!

I owed 3 Magnas and I never did any of that shit ... waste of money!

Lol try saying that on the Magna Car Club of SA haha!! They're nuts on that forum. They love the Magna's!!

man did the GTR hate being driven in 45 degree weather, all kinds of random noises start apearing lol

Lol I wouldn't even dare to start up my GTR in this heat. It'd suck enough hot air in just idling!

Same, and i deff would't even think about hitting boost, imagine the air temps going into the motor. I dont think the intercooler would do much in this heat. Probably just heat the air more

It's a bit sus, Kye. What if the guy on the bike ran into the car? What if he had no reflective gear? Etc.

its also the fact that since there is NO sholder on the road heading towards victor/mclaren vale, means the bike rider was riding on the road in the actual lane plus there are no street lights at all so its pitch black.

so if the guy didnt do a runner, he may have been let off abit lighter.

Haha - you know about Terry Kennedy and his diss track to Lupe? "Kick Push Pass".... its all documented in one of the Beef series (number 4 I think) but I think its funny as hell - they interview a bunch of skaters and say 'all lupe did was a little ollie at the end of his video'

-D

haha nah i havent heard that one. everytime i see him on tv i laugh though haha.

wouldnt suprise me if thats all he did in a skate vid. that was pretty much all he could do :(

    • What are you doing with the car? street car or race car? People get hung up on the squat of the s/r chassis rears. There is positives to the squat if a car is setup and driven correctly for it (correct ride height, spring rate, alignment, damper valving). Generally just lengthen the rear traction arm by 5-10mm and that will help the squat and bump steer too. You are also correct with the roll centre too. This too also needs to be adjustable if you start messing with suspension geometry.   Having done quiet a bit of testing on race cars this year in regards to rear squat, I've seen some big positives from it in regards to drive off corners and traction.
    • I find I am using the MX5 for everything except long overnight cruises with Jackie, or, if picking up the kids to go somewhere, the SS has so much more room inside, and is much more comfortable if your going to be doing Hwy driving for 6-8 hours And the MX5 isn't bad in stop go traffic for a manual transmission car, whilst the clutch kit has been upgraded from stock, it is still light, and also not having a stupidly light flywheel in it helps as well, I've spent alot of time sitting on the M5, M4 and M7 stuck in traffic when plodding around the Greater Sydney Region in it Another benefit is MX5's are not really a car that gets stolen, you can pretty much park it anywhere, and it will still be there when you return
    • I can totally get why you like it for that sort of commute. I was thinking BoganDore because it's such a lazy drive, for things like stop start traffic.   I used to do over an hour in stop start shit from one side of Bris to the next, twice a day. My choice of car was larger displacement, with an auto. Basically for torque in low rpm/very low speed, and no clutch pedal. But loved a fun manual for the weekends, which the partner has (plus had the LandCruiser too for other fun drives). I now have an EV as a work car, and I tell ya what, ultimate daily driver, especially if youre out of energy, like I often am after work. I don't even need to touch the brake pedal   That said, I'm presently rebuilding the Liberty GTB to get it setup for weekend drives and track abuse! So small high revving turbo engine with 6 speed cog swapper!   But for your style of commute, I'd probably take the MX5 too!   For those choices, I'm ignoring fuel economy. Because I know how atrocious V8 daily life is for fuel from when I used to daily a manual SS, ha ha. Hence why I know I love the daily rumble of a V8
    • II know what u are saying after 9 years of hibernating my stock engined  110,00km gtt I got it registered 2 weeks ago. Took it for a drive a couple of days ago and some fresh bp fuel, I just couldn’t stop grinning and dreaming of when I will start my build thread. its just such a primal man feeling many forget to enjoy I wish u so much enjoyment with your little racer mate
    • People just don't understand how good MX5's actually are and how fun they are to drive, park, manuever. You feel like you have got some fun cheat code, while everyone else is sitting in their luxobargeSUV like normies who missed the point of living. It really is that noticable. As long as you/your stuff fit, and you're comfortable (they are), a MX5 is the best car on earth to daily around.
