It's less risky when you use a broker who knows what they are doing and have the right contacts in Japan. Keep in mind though that things can still happen that are out of their control as well.

I'd buy another car through Kristian (Iron Chef Imports) without hesitation, although I'm trying to cut down on the whole buying of cars thing :3some: (18 in 6 years is a bit excessive).

its deff something you wanna spend some time reasearching unlike my stupid bro that tried importing a car to have it sit on the docks. we tried getting it in as as a race car only and they still shut it down based on -does not meet aus safty standards

hey Penny, a guy i work with (he is on here but dont think he posts much) is looking to get a turbo conversion done to his 34 GT. he has a workshop lined up, and all the info. i can get him to get in touch wit u if ur keen?

"I just bought a KKR turbo, installed it and now I hear a whining sound when it comes on boost..."

"I have a KKR turbo and when I hit boost, there's a cloud of white smoke behind me?"

"I just bought a KKR turbo. Then my wife left me. Then I heard a metal clanging sound when it hit boost?"

And the topics just roll on...

i donno, there's alot of good and bad in all those posts.

to be quite honest, when i drive the silvia, she gets one HELL of a beating. and that turbo has gone through hell but its kicking pretty strong still.

i guess i cant give a full comment about the kkr as mine's a cross bred with garret and the wategate has been sorted out already but im pretty happy with my 1.8ltr turbo that can stomp a 6ltr v8 :3some:

too much in this thread to pick apart everything specially on 64k and now I've had too choose the PDA skin to try and optimise load times

someone made mention of sensible's im guessing you mean the one on OG rd, that's where i bought my car and had no drama's had snapped turbo manifold studs got them replaced had worn rear brakes got them replaced bought the car without driving it only hearing the engine NOT because they wouldn't let me drive it but i didnt want to fall in love with the car and have finance fall through

Ben - this should hit that itchy spot

Im off soon to pick up my ordered sparkies, and to grab a 30%-angled thermalflex ply silicone joiner hose + a cple tbolt clamps

finishing off the piping properly, then might get a mandrel bent 2-piece copy made of the intercooler piping system Ive tee'd up

also put mesh around the front of the bar, looks amazing TBH :woot:

(cut bottom of day bar, big fmic tucked behind black mesh)

then dropping off the missus for her last wrist surgey (carpel tunnel, right wrist a success after 7 weeks, so here goes

    • Appreciate the feedback. It is street car, but not a daily. Last week I got a quote from a good exhaust shop for a decat, one which is bolt-on, bolt-off to be easily replaceable. I got quoted for around €150. I usually do push the motor, but I wasn't in this case to make sure that no damage is done until I get the cat sorted. I think it's best to also ask the exhaust shop for the other option and see what they can do. If (big if) I were to decat though, would it be best to tune the car or would the stock ECU handle it? As far as I know, the stock ECU is not tunable and that would require additional purchases.
    • As above, definitely bash it or get it replaced with a high flow unit.
    • get some flares on them, or wider guards haha
    • Another question sorry, what stainless do u use in the turbo external WG plumb back piping? Is it 321, 316 or 304?
    • Right, its been a while for updating this car, but I made some small but important progress today. In the end I bought an Ecutek dongle from the Australian distributor Tunehouse (for local hardware support) but have gone with a remote tune from Racebox in the US (because they have done millions of these, and I could not find any tuner where I could access the tune anyway as they are all password locked). The App is reasonably easy to work with, but the PC software reminds me of Haltech's ECU Manager that you need to use with the Plat Pro ECUs, it is a nightmare.  Anyway, I sent the details over, got back a tune file and a request for data logs. I finally got a chance to access a private test track today as they want redline logs in 3rd and 4th, and have sent them back for the first round of reviews. The main difference in the tune is going from 1.0 (stock) to 1.3 bar (19psi), although I'm sure is a lot of other stuff in the background. Keeping in mind this is a dead stock car with 125,000klm, this is what the App's performance test claimed: Before After Interesting to note that both 400m tests had the same terminal speed (158klm/h) but different ETs. And no, the speed limiter seems to be higher than that at 186kl/h. Summary of the key logged parameters for the 3rd and 4th gear runs were: Those little turbos were certainly whizzing at 200,000rpm+.  Also I'm really not that excited about oil pressure 55psi at redline so I think I'll go thicker than 5w30 (nissan recommend 0w20....) and see if that improves it. Other than that (and the big boost spike....) everything looks good as a start to me.
