Valid points there D_Stirls, especially regarding to the importance some people place towards postcounts. However I think that's the whole point of the Wasteland, an "off topic" section for users to talk about things other than cars.

the problem with the wasteland because it isn't a section it's a single topic you can have a concise conversation about a specific topic because it gets lost in the rest of the dribble.

P.S. Damo was just an example that came to mind not meant to single him out, it must be his average of 11 posts per day that drew my attention.

I get what you're saying Dale but it would be more crap to moderate, hence from where we stand, the wasteland thread is more than enough.

To create a subforum as you've mentioned would be something that Christian (aka Prank) would have to establish.

I know Andrew may come across as tough occasionally but I have to back him in what he's trying to achieve, ie not taking any ideas from ns in the way they do things and remaining true to the original concept and idea behind this forum.

yeah i agree.

a fair few valid points that i have made/questions asked have fallen on deaf ears in here.

cant complain, cos on the other hand i have derailed a few good convos too :(

yeah i know Heslo, but when people say post whore, the finger is usually pointed at me, but i can name a handful of others (not just in sa) who actually whore around without any contructive posts.

is it coz my e-penis is bigger carl? :(

im just on alot, i contribute to alot of stuff. oh well. if you have a look around the sa section, the threads have been staying on topic lately, has anyone else noticed?

well you need more moderators then, that's easily solved. You may knock NS.com but it is one of the biggest performance forums in the world so they must be doing something right, and despite popular opinion they do actually have some reasonably tough moderators.

:(

lol

i reckon that this can be put down to the mods being moar active :)

IMO a good thing... not a fan of ns.com factor

.:EDIT:. good point D_Stirls, i think its just the user : mod ratio that lets it get out of control

i would love to see a line up of the top 10 Average posters per day.

Cos i know you would be claiming Steve would be up there but his average is only 6.4

yeah fair point, i can think of other users who have also only posted "don't mind me, just whoring through" or similar.

i dont think the state of the sa forum is as bad as it is made out to be, the moderators are not only doing there job well but the users have stayed generally on topic in alot of the threads.

Dale, no i wouldn't claim him in that top 10. Wtf is everyone trying to claim here? Are we trying to point out "over-active users"?

One of the threads you may be referring to might be Amanda's pregnancy thread, yeah?!

This thread was started well before the tougher rules were enforced and to shut that down now when she's ready to give birth would be plain heartless.

TBH That was the most off topic thread I've ever seen

Do you people really believe I give 2 shits about children, the procreation, the drama? Sorry if this shits you all off, but this is exactly the point of what andrew is getting at, even tho I know full well I'm twisting his words. I know a bunch of folks who have kids and yeah, they're always very proud and what not, but I have to quote Bill Hicks here and say "Your children are NOT special". Hell. even cockroaches procreate.

Yeah fair enough, if someone wants to share something cool like having a kid, leave it to wasteland. But straight up, that thread contained a hell of a lot of bitching about the "other half" which leaves us with one half of a story. At that stage, I tuned out. How many pages has that thread gotten to, within 9 months?

If you need someone to talk to or vent, fair enough but picking a car forum at random and venting to people you hardly know publicly... cmon dawg... thats not what this is for...

Mods. Don't pretend there is a grey area here. Its black and white.

Signing off, one heartless bastard.

Sorry but i must as he just said every thing i have been thinking for the past 8>9 months.

+1

And that is meant as +1 to what he was saying not my post count

Sorry i should have written "SOME" not "YOU".

Just out of interest who do you think would be on that list cos' i can't think of any, well any that i haven't just look at.

    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
    • Doing a refresh of my 33 and can see a few websites stating they sell the entire main carpet for our cars, but they all have generic photos which is fine, i understand they are custom made to order.  Just seeing if anyone has got it done or had any experience with this, as i would only want to do it if the fit and finish was as good as oem https://carmatsdirect.com.au/products/moulded-carpet-or-vinyl-for-nissan-skyline-r33-1993-1998-coupe https://knoxautocarpets.com.au/moulded-carpets/nissan/skyline/skyline-r-33-1993-1998/
    • Any plans for E85? If so, add flex fuel sensor.   I'd probably add in the sensors I mentioned above if the Link will support using them for engine protection. With water pressure, you need to be able to effectively set it that "If temp > X, and pressure = atmospheric, shutdown" as at running temp, you should be able to read pressure in the cooling system. If pressure suddenly disappears, it means the water went some where, and this is a quicker reaction than waiting on water temp to go up (Which, can take a little longer than you'd like, considering it now has to wait for hot air to heat it up) Oil pressure, Oil temp, both would be on my list too if you're looking to add sensors. Wideband O2. And at least one EGT sensor. If you're feeling deluxe, put in individual runner EGTs. Single EGT sensor is more so forget about a specific number, get used to "What is normal EGTs", and then keep an eye on it, if it starts going away from "normal" it's a sign something is wrong (Also, things like the tune can still start going out of spec, but EGTs may not show it, for example one injector starts running leaning, so ECU richens everything up, now 5 out of 6 cylinders are rich, and running cool, with one cylinder lean and running hotter, so it's not perfect) Then there is your other things to look at non sensor related, but you may have already done, or have underway, and that would be things like building a sump for more oil, and better oil control under high G-Forces (Cornering, brakes, acceleration). Basically, the above is worth looking/thinking about, if the ECU can do protective stuff with it, and you continue to use it how you are (Drive it to the track, thrash it, drive home, repeat once every 3 to 4 months)
    • Can also confirm these work a treat for most balljoints and bushes. If you have access to a big rattle gun, they make the job so much easier and quicker, compared to using a socket wrench or shifter on the c-clamp 👍
    • Its sort of street but got used for circuit sprints on account of I never drive it on the road because I dont have the time to spare. So it usage was sits around for months at a time then gets driven either 50 or 250 kms to the track followed by 20 laps followed by 50 or 250kms home followed by stuck in the shed until next time. So yeah neither fish nor fowl. Just dont want to break it on the track as a preference. Hence the fairly short sensor/mod list. Probably more worried about it pinging itself to destruction more so than anything oil related.
