holly crap chad

thats a heap of oil in the IC mate

i have heard of this happening a lot to track cars...

i guess catch can would be a good way to solve this problem...

how does oil get into the air intake system? my guess would be a leak in the turbo section...

-D

yes, but a correctly fitted catch can! I have a link somewhere here in the wasteland.

Chad, heres a pic of an RB25 that represents a decent track setup, open to atmosphere.

so my catch can has two hoses, both connected to each cam cover (replacing the U shaped pipe) so ill be blocking the positive crankcase ventilation valve (so the pcv valve isnt open off boost, sucking air through the catch can) and inlet to turbo from the cam cover.

Yay ... I get to pour more foundations this weekend for my house extension :) The extension is 9.7m x 10.6m, just to give you an idea of the steel frames being erected. Finished off the first frame (there are four) Wednesday night, and its dead straight and level. So glad my surveying skills work eh :)

Tonight I move the gazebo and clothes line. Tomorrow I bore the holes and erect another frame. Hope to have all the framing done this weekend. Roof up next weekend ;)

So thats the plan for the next week, including my mountains of TAFE work, homework and work work! :O

When there's quite a bit of blow-by.

If you're going to have an atmospheric catch can set up be sure to have a suitable baffle that can absorb oil well so as to minimise the amount of oil that will layer your engine bay.

you really like to erect things :)

My erections are so big, I need council approval before beginning ;)

they'll never approve it, your erection is more than 2 storeys high in a zoned residential area

with an erection that big you should have bought in an industrial zoned area

I can have an erection 2 storeys high in a residential area, so long as there are no overlooking issues, and I keep my erection setback from the boundary by at least 900mm. I must also maintain over 100m2 of open space in my back yard, so my erection doesn't get in the way of play space.

However, my erection may raise (no pun intended) overshadow issues with our eastern neighbour. He might not approve of my erection. So it will have Category 2 building approval for an erection of this size

suprised you didn't make a thread about it :P

I was going to. But it doesn't fall into the category of child birth, or jokes, or villis, or birthdays, or stereo installs, or holidays, or long weekends ... All my threads get closed nowdays anyway.

does your erection need to be at least 1km away from primary schools?

My erection is of a residential nature and the land is therefore correctly zoned to be erected within any proximity of a school (there are two schools less than 200m in either direction from my property). So my building erection is permitted near schools

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.

    • Welcome Gabriel. At least your car has a glorious RB and not the shitty CA18. As MBS206 mentioned all the good bits can be added later. Two doors or four?
    • And half of them have been converted to turbos.
