they should sit pretty good dion, might need to run something like a 5mm slip on spacer up front, but you can get those from most tyre joints for nix.

they in adelaide? cant test fit before purchase?

as for the offset thing, its pretty simple. it refers to where the mounting surface of the wheel sits in relation to the edges of the wheel.

smack bang in the centre is +/- 0 offset (neutral).

when you move it from the centre towards the outside edge of the wheel its + offset.

when you move it from the centre towards the inside of the wheel its -offset.

Unfortunately they arent in Adelaide, or else I would trial fit. If they did not require spacers on the Z32, does that mean it wont need them on an R32?

Thanks for your help with the offsets etc.

should be pretty good i reckon. if not, theres bound to be someone on here rockin the same size/offset. might let you borrows theirs for a spell.

i would offer, but im running significantly lower offsets...

:edit: how much coin you spending? id rock these, but thats me.

:edit: jis have a set of gramlights in the same size and offset, head down there, ask to test fit, and voila!

:edit... again: just so you know, youre gonna be way out of track anyways. adr's allow only 12.5mm of track increase per side. but f**k it, fit the wheels you want to get the car looking the way you want. we dont all have to drive yugo's. :(

17*9 +20 with a 235/40, yours will sit another 28mm further in.

:(

sucks that you r chassis owners can run such high offset and get flushness, im running 0's and im barely proud with camber.

As i have heard somewhere before, i can't wait to see the shitstorm after they crush a car that has been wrongfully impounded!

Agreed Damo, would love to see what will happen in this situation, and if it does happen i hope the person it happens to has lots of cash behind them to push it high into the courts and the public view.

It would be interesting to see the outcome, but i get the feeling what you would see happen is that the owner would be offered a payout figure of the market value of the vehicle and the courts will see that as fair. But of course they wont take into account any modifications done to the vehicle, as they cant be seen allowing a car to have aftermarket modifications.

i ran 17 x9 +36 on my 34, that cleared the calipers by plenty

calipers are easy, strut can be a pain.

nor will they take into account something like sentimental value.

I guess we'll see what happens if and when they do actually crush a car, but I'm guessing that without a court order (repeat offenders) they won't be crushing cars for defects and general traffic infringements. I'm not convinced that it's going to be a police/government free for all.... and I know first hand that some officers aren't the most trustworthy people I've ever met.

Thats a good idea about going down to JIS Scandy.

Found this in the Wheel offset section

1992 R32 gtst

Wheel dia= 17"

Wheel width=8" fronts 9" rear

Wheel offset 35 fronts 38 rears

tyres 235-45-17 front

tyres 255-40-17 rear

Didnt need to do any mods car was lowered 25mm

I understand completely what you guys are going on about, but it's not going to be as easy for these morons to do as they please than most think. More credit should be given to the broader public in regards to making the right decisions at the polling booths.... until I see otherwise I'm not that corncerned.

Yeah I might head town there when I have some time and check out what they have.

The VS-XX's im looking at are just proud of 1k, with tyres.

simmons wheels are no more...

dude, i work both with and for people that think this is all the best idea ever, i had a workmate telling me the other day that he believes a vehicle should be destroyed and the owner forced into 12 months community service after the first offence. and he's passionate about it.

and the amount of people i talked to that were equally passionate about the bikie laws. honestly, some of these people are supporting what is in effect a communist government without even realising what theyre saying.

sounds reasonable, how much is freight? what tyres? conditions of said tyres? damage to wheels?

I think there is a difference between people who like to jump on a bandwagon and talk shit without thinking because it was published in a newspaper recently or was on TV. It's like guys who talk shit about things they have no clue about.... just because someone else is discussing it they want to be involved in the conversation.... They don't really believe in the shit that comes form their own mouth!!

theres an election in what... 7 months? if comrade rann can keep this topic on the boil long enough, people will continue on the path on now and vote in the guy whos keeping them safe.

never underestimate the stupidity of scared people in numbers.

and you havent heard these people talk, theyre like ruby when hes talking about bashing pedestrians, dead serious.*

i personally dont care if rann gets voted back in, its another reason for me to move overseas.

*ok, maybe roo-boy was kidding, but theyre serious, and they believe that theyre saying.

Whether the topic be "car crushing" or "Ruby knocking down pedestrians" ... People just read into something they want to believe ... why let the truth get in the way, when you can have a good flame for no reason whatsoever ... whether by media or forums. People find it easier to keep believing bullshit because thats what the majority do, than to admit they got their facts wrong.

BTW I only bash pedestrians for money :) :)

    • I think my main complaint with your idea is that there is a veneer of idealism spread across it. You want the simple numbers to make it easier, but all they will do is make it easier for someone to come to the wrong conclusion because the fine details will kick them in the nuts. As it is right now, the tiny bit of arithmetic is NOT the obstacle to understanding what will fit and what will not fit. The reality of trying it is what determines whether it will fit. If you had a "standard rule" that R34 GTT guards have that magic 100mm space from the hub face to whichever side you were worried about, and someone said "excellent, this wheel is only 98mm in that direction, I'll just go spend $4k on them and jam them on my sick ride".....they would just as likely find out that the "standard rule" is not true because the rear subframe is offset to one side by a fairly typical (but variable) 8mm on their car and they only have 92mm on one side and 108 on the other.
    • It still combines inches with mm, especially when you have .5 inches involved, and mm and inches that can go in either direction. This would give a clear idea on both sides of the rim, right away, with no arithmetic. Even better if somebody gives you the dimensions of the arch of multiple cars. i.e GTR may be 125mm, a A80 Supra may be 117mm, or something along those lines. Yes, you can 'know' that going from a 10in rim to a 10.5in rim with the same offset moves both sides about 6mm, but you still have to 'know' that and do the math. Often it's combined. People are going from 9.5 +27 to 10.5 +15. You may do the math to know it, but if it was going from (I had to go look it up to be sure) 241mm/2 - 27 - 93.5mm from the center line to (more math) 266/2 - 15 (118mm) from the center line. Versus 93mm vs 118mm. It's right there. If you know you have a GTT with 100mm guards you can see right away that one is close to flush and the other absolutely won't work. And when someone says "Oh the GTR is 120mm" suddenly you see that the 10.5 +15 is about perfect. (or you go and buy rims with approximately 118mm outward guard space) I think it's safe to say that given one of the most common questions in all modified cars is "How do offsets work" and "How do I know if wheels will fit on my car" that this would be much simpler... Of course, nothing will really change and nobody is going to remanufacture wheels and ditch inches and offset based on this conversation :p We'll all go "18x9+30 will line up pretty close to the guards for a R34 GTT (84mm)" but 'pretty close' is still not really defined (it is now!) and if you really care you still have go measure. Yes it depends on camber and height and dynamic movement, but so do all wheels no matter what you measure it for.
    • But offsets are simple numbers. 8" wheel? Call it 200mm, near enough. +35 offset? OK, so that means the hub face is that far out from the wheel centreline. Which is 2s of mental arithmetic to get to 65mm to outer edge and 135mm to inner. It's hardly any more effort for any other wheel width or offset. As I said, I just close my eyes and can see a picture of the wheel when given the width and offset. That wouldn't help me trust that a marginal fitment would actually go in and clear everything, any more than the supposedly simple numbers you're talking about. I dunno. Maybe I just automatically do numbers.
    • Sure! But you at least have simple numbers instead of 8.5 inches +/mm, relative to your current rims you do maths with as well, and/or compare with OEM diameter, which you also need to know/research/confirm..
