That is a pretty looking turbo there Dave :)

So, what do you guys think of the wheels for my new bus? All you need to know is that she will be black, and a bit lowered :P

The wheels are the best offset I can go - unfortunately the offset of the standard wheels on the car are shameful, and even these wheels are a lot less dish than I want, but I cannot have wheels hanging out of my guards for a daily driver that deals with poholes and storm drains all day every day. I also don't want the cop attention. As it is they will be 34mm closer to the guards than the stock wheels, which will sit them nice and flush. (I have blacked out the centre caps, as I will be fitting them without them and I think they detract from the look of the wheel).

CE28N 18x8.5 +30 are the magic numbers .... and will be (slightly) stretching some 225/45 18s over them.

What do you all think?

Will suit the new car nicely, definite win!

Glad you guys approve of my new wheels :) ..... I have been doing a shit-ton of research on what will and won't fit .... I am still going to borrow some of the same offset wheels of someone to try on the new beast before I sink my hard earned into the set pictured .... there is not too much information floating around on my new car .... few in the country and almost no-one modifying my specific model yet ....

Sorry Abe - hadn't really caught the goss about your turbo (*I only read bits and pieces of the Wasteland as time allows).

Looks good mate - but I fear the 0.8+ rear will be quite laggy .... if you are ok that with that, then go for it. If I was you I'd go have a long read about different turbo setups people have used in the forced induction section (which you may have already done). For a daily driver it may be a bit big methinks - unless you are going to whack it on a big ass top mount manifold, and always run a ton of boost through it. Trouble is you just can't drive a car with that much power on the street anyhow unless it is 4wd and/or has traction control - that thin glooks like it was built ro run over 300rwkw every day of the week.

But hey, each to their own. If you are happy, then that is all that matters.

For me, I am more than happy to have the awesome boost reponse my GT25/30 has, at the expense of 50rwkw that a bigger turbo would bring.

Got off the phone to hypergear and he said that would be enough to go about 320rwkw or so....for something like 260-280 he recommended a AT28G2 or something similar to a GT2871R for response and good hard hitting power

Response even from a 0.83 will be laggy as f**k considering the stock ones are 0.48 or something

a garrett gt3076 turbo will NOT make 320 rwkw!!!!!!!!!!!!

the bigger gt3040 with .82 rear exhaust housing will only just make above 300rwkw and thats on a forged engine and thas with external gate

    • Of course you can. That was a waste. Straight down one oil drain gallery and out the sump hole. Could at least have run the engine a little (obviously with at least minimum oil level on the stick).
    • Oh really? Maybe I'm being silly. I'll get some more shots. I had it higher but found that it went too high after a drive, I never knew this but exhausts can move around a bit when hot (makes sense, just never knew) and when it was higher it would make nice cooking plastic smells. That said, I could put some heat tape on a'la 90's R33 exhausts     Ha, I've spent a lot of my life in castle hill waiting for cars to be done. I think I'd prefer something closer but thanks D.
    • @Duncan Yes, changed filter every time. I don't have the service manual for the car yet (Car was imported and they removed everything when importing). I've been using the oil change threads in the forum as reference.   @Milkmun The second oil change was after ~4 months after the first months and I wasn't sure about reusing engine oil that was opened. The third oil change happened within 3 weeks of the second oil change and I used the previous leftover oil to just "clean up" the system. (Poured it through while the sump plug was open")
    • I left the ceramic coating off this bit, hopefully it just comes off after a few drives.   The gap between the spokes is too tight for anything on a stick, its only marginally bigger than my finger. I have to use a brush to get in there and its a big reason why I thought I'd try the coating.   Absolutely will do. I have EBC Blue Stuff pads to put on the front which will make them a bit dirtier. I'm hoping a pressure wash will just get most off. The shine is different to most, its very thin but seems very well 'attached' so hopefully it lasts.
