Craig, installing rotors and pads are a peice of piss, if a first year mechanic can't do it I think he needs to re-evaluate his chosen profession cos he's obviously f**king useless...

^^^ Totally agree. Its a job a 1st year apprentice should be able to do. Sorry to hear a lacky f**ked ya car. I've had lackys f**k my bikes working on them before. :(

I should be doing my caliper conversion tomorrow. After spending some of today painting the Dolphin body kit ...

... speaking of which, its dark now, but I'll take pics tomorrow. The Dolphin kit now colour matches the Stag. Going out tonight to show her off

just a quick tip for all

DO NOT GET A 1ST YEAR APPRENTICE MECH TO ATTEMPT TO INSTALL YOUR NEW ROTORS AND PADS!

couldnt get the new pads over the new rotor, in attempting to open the calliper to fit over the rotor with new pads

he broke the fluid line....

so i learnt my lesson, im just gonna pay a proffesional.

should have done that in the first place :(

he had every thing but a g clamp, to open the calliper.....

im just gonna send it to abs, let them deal with it.......

hopefully they can find another line for it.........

craig craig craig, i told you i'd help you do them. Ive done countless amounts of them.... oh well...live and learn.

    • I will say most technicians aren't the best, then they see a Skyline and it seems like their brains start oozing out of their ears. But actual good techs that knew what they were doing to begin with I don't see them having any issues with this car. And it doesn't attract that much attention. But if you were wondering what it's like to be an attractive woman, driving an RHD Skyline in the US is pretty much as close as it gets in terms of endless male attention. Random people will strike up conversations with you at gas stations, at mechanics, etc. List goes on. When I do alignments for any car I never leave it overnight. I bring it in same day and usually just mill around outside the shop because I can't be bothered to call a taxi to go somewhere for 30 minutes only to get another taxi back.
    • By way of parts My local Nissan had a new water pump i needed👍. But i just had to buy and new AC compressor from the US 👎. Hit and miss with parts
    • Gas springs (ie boot/bonnet struts) will be charged up to about 200 bar. That's a bit scary. Suspension dampers will have maybe 10 bar of N2 pressure, which is just a sneeze, where I come from. Anyone drilling holes in anything, pressurised or not, without wearing safety glasses deserves swarf in the eyes.
