R33 Automatic Shifter

Hey guys, I tried to rip out my auto shifter, but to no avail. I'm aware there's 2 screws in the front of the stick, but after the removal of these it seems to be locked in some way, and I don't want to screw up the thing by applying to much pressure. Anyone help?

yeah there's two circuit wires attached to the knob.

One I think's for the overdrive button I'm not sure what the other one is ...

anyway I haven't taken it off either cause I'm afraid the shifter might malfunction

anyone else can shed some light on this?

So there's two wires inside the knob hey... Also when you push the main button down, it seems to make something click on the far right side of the dash? Surely someone has taken their shifter off

i've taken mine off my R32

when you unscrew it its held in by 2 wires. these are for hte overdrive

the overdrive system works that when the 2 wires are not commected, overdrive is ON. when the 2 wires are connected, the overdrive in OFF

so just cut the 2 wires and remove the knob easy as that

the hard pars it getting an aftermarket knob to fit properly. when you fit an aftermarket knob just connect the 2 wires you cut to a switch somewhere that you can use to activate the overdrive

That's a bucketload of help, cheers for that. Only problem is that how do you access these 2 wires? I can't even lift my shifter out of its original position, even after the screws are removed

HaHa so true about the aftermarket stick lucky me i found 1 the last 1 at cartoys port road fits snug i put in a new o/d switch in my ashtray works well and not out ove finger reaching distance.

P.S: just cut the wires and get a small round switch drill a hole in ashy and get 2 small spade connectors and there ur O/D switch i can show you how ive done mine if ur in Adelaide or ill tyr to get sme pics uploaded if i get a new camera soon?

just pull it up r u certain u got both screws if u can lift just enough till u see the wires then cut em then it should come straight off mine was easy az!

the click you hear when you push that button is the shift lock i think. somehow hooked up to brake pedal and ign barrel. thats y you cant remove the key unless the shifter is in park
