From what i was told is that you can not exceed 210rwkw with the just the housing being machined you need it to be larger. they said that once you change it for example if you put the avo one on there you will atleast get about 260 to 280rwkw.

Ah thats bullshit mate :O Whoever told you that have absolutely no idea what they are on about.

Countless people have made 250-260rwkw with the R34/VG30 rear housing with GCG Hi-flows, and other hi-flows from places like ATP, MTQ and so on.

These use the FACTORY turbo housing machined up to suit. So in 'flowed' form, they flow whats required.

A couple of people now (from Vic) have PM'd me with a similar questions, and i reckon its the same 'place' giving out this info as they dont know how to tune and are using the turbo as a scape goat.

Surely the sheer amount of documented results on this forum is enough to show you what they can produce easily.

When you think about overall costs, hi-flowing + AVO rear housing etc etc... I would be surprised if it isnt signifigantly cheaper to purchase a proper frame GT3076 or something and will do exactly the same job.

Pete - the turbo might also be nosing over due to the compressor, being the GCG used to be i two different sizes, and the bigger was stopped due to the comp wheel being too far over-sized and surged in a lot of situations

Yeah, I wouldn't be doing anything with the back end until I install this temp gauge thingo.

But if it's only marginal, I wont be spending $850 on a few more kilowatts.

I reckon a Neo RB25 could possibly get away with a real GT3071R and one of Garretts GT30 IW T3 flanged turbine housings . That way you get the exact same compressor wheel as a HKS GT2835 Pro S and the non cropped GT30 turbine . I think the Neo's variable cam timing could pull the bottom end up a bit better than the R33 version and thats probably why Nissan used the larger OP6 type turbine housing on R34 GTt's . Also with Garretts turbine housings the available A/R ratios are 0.63 0.82 and 1.06 , the 2835 Pro S's are 0.68 and 0.87 .

For a GT3076R I would always use one of the the above mentioned Garrett GT30 IW housings , a good chance you could buy such a turbo complete and know the housing is designed to suit the turbine . Once you move away from OEM turbine housings its generaly best to use one designed for the turbocharger , if you can get one that bolts to the std manifold the rest is pretty straightforward .

LTHL. 210rwkw sounds about right from the STD housing, non high flowed.

My car (and a few other highflows R34s) seem to max out at 250rwkw and this is seemingly due to the exhaust housing.

Last retune to fix my fiddling was 262rwkw, again on a dyno dynamics dyno. It does 11mph at the strip and weighs about 1600kg.

i understand that mate, and im not trying to argue. its just that when i started asking questions about these things to mechanics i got these answers and thats why i wanted to hear your what all you guys had to say.

I asked, a long time ago, an extremely well thought of workshop about highflows and was told that I would never get over 220rwkw. Well I made 228rwkw on 13psi through the auto my car used to have.

The sad fact is that it is extremely rare for a workshop to be totally honest with everybody. There might not actually be one in existence. On the other side of the coin, people on here are sometimes prone to exaggeration and shit talking. Unfortunately, each person has to take it all in and decide what to make of it themselves. Hey, it's part of the fun and the challenge of modifying a car.

    • yeah i agree paint match stops it from standing out so much, oh that's actually really good to know i was wondering if it would help with air flow now actually having an outlet in the bonnet. Will have to focus on ducting into and out of the radiator now to make the most of it.
    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps
    • Does anyone run this kit with factory plenum? Does the adapter and bosch tb fit under factory strut brace? I wanted to get this setup before going forward facing manifold. Thanks
    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.  
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
