Hey guys, the rims I'm after come in 18" and 17" (LMGT4s).

Just wondering if theres any difference in getting the 18s over 17s (performance/suitability-wise), with the correct offsets of course.

I know bigger rims look better, but i just dont want them rubbing against the guards (dont really want to roll/lip the guards either), nor do I want my car to lose a bit of speed (due to weight or extra width).

Anyone able to give me the lowdown on 17s vs 18s.

Car is an s2 R33 gts-t, currently has 17x8 front, and 17x9 rear.

(Yeah, I'm a newb btw)

Edit: Tried searching, and have looked through most of the posts in http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t84208.html

Yup you are right..

17s- more suited for track in terms of handling.. Cheaper on rubber as well

18s- fills out the guards nicely.. Rubber costs more..

Find out the cost of buying 17inch lmgt4s with same offsets as 18 inch and see what the price difference is..

Maybe check out pics of 17inch lmgt4s on an s2 and compare it with pics of 18inch lmgt4s..

etc..

Just a thought - go 17inch front, 18inch rear.. heheh

Hmm, damn i wish i could trial fit them but they're coming direct from Japan. :O

Tell me the widths and offsets and I'll be able to give you a pretty good indication whether they will rub or not..

IMO, go 18s. If you are comparing LMGT4s in 17s and 18s the weight difference is not that much of an issue, tyre prices for 18s have also come down quite a fair bit as 18s have become the new 17s...

Thanks heaps mate!

they might if you're suspension's like mine, I got 17" and well it's almost touching but not quite,

I can feel the drag that the car doesn't go as fast as with the stock rims.

I'd go 17" cause it's the safer option, but it's up to you, you gotta ask yourself ... do you feel lucky punk?

Thanks heaps mate!

The fronts should be fine, I ran that on my GTT. Fronts will only slightly rub on the inner plastic guard on full lock when going up driveways.

Rears are a bit weird, more suited to GTRs. Ideally rears should be 9.5 +35 or +38

Hmmm, yeah thats what i would have thought. But I'm ordering them through a sponsored trader on these forums (presumably direct from japan), and i asked for a LMGT4s specifically suited toward the R33 GTST, and those are the offsets I've been given. :w00t:

Thats right and also if its a custom order, then I would chg the rears to 9.5 instead of 9 with +35 offset

what about 18s with +38 all around with 235 all around? the wheels are 8inchs wide all around as well

18x8 +38 on the fronts may fit depending on wheel type and spoke design...due to +38 you may have brake caliper clearance issues, so test fit before you buy...

eg: I had two different type of wheels before both 18x8 +35 for the fronts, one fit the other one did not clear brakes...its all in the x factor..
