Nissan Gtr Officially Coming To Australia

Recommended Posts

i realise technically we can import the new GTR (i'm not calling it an R35 until official word, cos i can't see how it can be that) but how come all a workshop has to do is apply? Don't they have to bring one out, smash it up, can an engineer to do a package, send it off to DOTARS, get them to look through, then come out for an inspection of a freshly complianced car, pick over it, find problems, create 'discussion points' go back and forth with the workshop to fix em and THEN they can start compliancing that certain model only AFTER all of that?

that's exactly what happens, but to be eligible to import (ie make it onto the SEVS list) its the application date that matters. Once its on the SEVS list, then anyone can apply to comply it and go thru the process you've described.

No they don't. Cars are added to the SEVS list as applications are approved. These applications are totally seperate from the application process of a RAW to become a compliance plate issuer. However to be eligible to be ont he SEVS list it has to meet certain criteria, and not sharing a silhouette with a locally sold full volume model is one of them.

So if the application is made before Nissan sells them locally then its eligible (as it'll more than likely meet the other requirements), if the application is made after, its not.

I saw the official Nissan sales documentation at Global Auto last Sunday. The Nissan GT-R chassis code is CBA-R35... had this confirmed over the phone by a Nissan High Performance Center here in Kobe too.

This might not be a good thing

We may get de-tuned models

We certainly will be paying a premium for them here through Nissan. If we could import them it might be cheaper?

Yeh we'll definitely get de-tuned GT-R's. Look at the Silvia vs. 200SX power figures :) . That's why we re-tune them

Yeah from what funkymonkey was saying the grey imports would be cheaper

Hey what about that 2 year importing rule? I thought the car had to be 2 years old to be imported second-hand. Is this not the case?

From a copy of the Trading Post, 2025:

2008 GT-R, only 40000 kays, genuine reason for sale, ex-show car- hot pink respray, yellow leather interior, underbody neons, lowered 3 inches, rollin' on 26" Tempe chromiez, aftermarket intacoolah, 'super-loud' BOVs. A real head turner, pulls da chikz.

Located in Sefton. Call Habib on 0425.......

Hahahahahahahahaha :P

That's the funniest sh!t hahahaha

I can totally imagine that happening which is depressing

No doubt there will be plenty of that... Still looking forward to 2025 when I can afford one though :)

Hey after five years (and by then we should all be richer) the price of a second-hand GT-R won't be THAT extravagant.

I'll be getting one for sure. Until then it's gonna have to be an R34 GT-R unfortunately...

doesn't matter when the compliance is gotten as long as the application is done. Compliance for 1999 S15's was applied for before Nissan started selling them in full volume, hence why we can only import S15s made in 1999.

I do believe you can import certain month year 2000 S15's aswell. There are a few around.

yeah the first couple of months... I usually don't say 1999-2000 because then people get all excited when they find a cheap Dec 2000 car and I have to tell them they can't have it.

although if kevin dudd gets in then our dollar will drop to 70c no doubt and the prospect of a cheap import won't be as exciting :)

Vote libs if u want a GTR!

Howard & Cheap Imports ftw!

That is so funny. How many time Rezz did you tell us all that the next GT-R wouldn't be called the R35! hahaha.

"It's not the R35 - it will be the V35"

70k might have been wishful thinking on m part but I was going on the random figures people were spoutig at the time from one end of hte scale 70k to the other @ 150k. No offence guys but I personally I would need allot of information on the complete spec of the vehicle before I felt it worth 150k eh. then again im not a person who is likely to drop that kind of coin on a car. locally delivered would get higher double digits but not into the trip digi's for me.

omg import wif genuine k's uleh.

Glad you find it so amusing

I might add that I stopped calling it a V35/36 (or anything for that matter - just 'new GT-R') almost 2 years ago now, because back then I had a sneaking feeling Nissan might do the unthinkable and call it an R35. I was the first to admit I was wrong the moment Nissan made the chassis code official : http://www.7tune.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=128 (post #5 scroll down)

Anyway, rub in my mistake as much as you want champ :)

got a question, when will the car be available in dealers in Japan? I will be heading to Japan around december I wonder if I can see it in dealers? I know it will be in Tokyo show end of this month and people in Japan can get it in December, but anyone know the exact date that it will be available in dealers? thanks

should be in dealers in japan in late november early december.

I just heard today the colour options are:

white

metallic red

silver (apparently $3K premium)

grey

titanium (sort of bronzey look)

that's in the standard model.

then there's black edition which is black with special black seats

and premium edition

there are also options such as better alloys, better tyres, bose system etc.

japanese dealers are taking deposits now. price for base model is 8mil JPY + tax(just under $80K AUD). They say delivery for the first orders within 6 weeks of TMS release.

should be awesome, my friend was down there today at a japanese nissan dealer and I think he will be buying one. :D fingers crossed!

Great info Richard. Mind if I post it on another forum? (Crediting you of course)

Interesting that silver costs so much more... Also to note that the colours are so plain, much like the R32 GTR. I can't wait!!

Wonder if this will be the first car I ever buy brand new...
