more airflow, better control over intake, etc, but by the same token its harder to tune, more prone to faults (you'll have 6 things to go wrong instead of one) and you'll need to upgrade your TPS, ECU etc.

The R32 GT-B came with an RB26DE with GTR individual throttle bodies, and there are adapter kits for L28 hex throttle bodies onto RB's available in japan...

dunno if its worth all that effort for an N/A.

im wanting to do a full rebuild with stroker kit (keeping the car n/a) and my dyno guy suggested getting the independant throttle bodies, as well as a lot of other lovely things i didnt think i Would have to get!

is it possible to get ones that are already made in japan? or better to go custom?

best bet would be to pull one off a GTR and then fab up the rest. Just do it the easy way and use a Q45/ford throttle body.

Swap in a VQ35DE if you want to be different, and stay N/A with good power.

I went thru this whole phase when I was lookin at building my R32 GTS, in the end figured its a lot cheaper to go for forced induction. M3 style N/A power is very expensive on a Skyline.

if i was to get one of these gtr mainfolds with the indepented throttle bodies, would there be much fabrication invloived to actually make the thing fit?

you'd be the first to find out :)

ITB's are awesome - they're main advantage over the normal set up is very snappy throttle response and the engine will like to rev much faster.

IMO, not worth it if you have to go and get one custom made. Sure you could use a 'GTR' Intake manifold but its not designed for NA in mind...as in a true ITB set up would have individual linkages on each trumpet to open and close the throttle butterfly. Below is what a "proper" ITB set up should be like. They are usually more prevalent on Hondas ( e.g S2k, NSX).

When you get bored of your power put a 1UZFE (cheaper to come by in Australia and more development is also smaller than VH45) with ITB's in....all alloy, lighter than a RB, sits further back in the engine bay...you almost can't go wrong. For a little more outlay stroking your RB + ITB + Tuning.

I should add. Top Secret Japan would have some, I think they did a proper ITB set up on an RB26 for one of their show cars.

Edit: I just looked at the intake of the RB26 again, it does appear to have single linkage ITB set up with a plenum-type cover - that will probably just bolt onto the RB25 with accelerator cable mods you could have it working. Though it would sound best without the plenum cover =D

you can use an L28's linkage setup and put it on an RB25 with some modding... I read a japanese article on an M3 beating like RB25 tune that had this. I'll see if I can find it again.

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
