I am considering a Wolf V500 for my R33 SII GTST. First of all any comments on experiences with these would be great (i keep hearing mixed stories)?? Secondly, how reliable is the boost control unit? Most ECU's with in-built boost control dont particularly have the most reliable solenoid making boost and hp float around a bit, especially during tuning. Some comments please...

may be a silly question...but the wolf has a solenoid buit in? Or can the unit only control a solenoid? Its is a pretty small unit and one wonders how it can fit

Im actually not sure, thats one of the reasons i was asking?

yeh coz im geting the wolf aswell. I already got a avcr so may sell it and put the money towards the wolf. If you look at the actual unit you can see a hose connection sticking out. May be a vaccum hose for a built in solenoid??? Then again i may be a complete nob....

So your going to use a V500 on a 34GTT?? Be interested to hear how it pans out.

Yeah im unsure about the solenoid, I do not really have a pic handy to see the hose your talking about, I have just heard that internal solenoids are no good, but no real reasons why?

The hose sticking out is for the inbuilt MAP sensor in the WOLF.

They do not have inbuilt boost solenoid's AFAIK, they can only control boost using an aftermarket solenoid. Namely I was told with the V4, I could have used a 33 gts-t standard solenoid and wire that in.

Hope that helps

yeh a workshop here in perth have wired the v500 up to a r34 gtt with good results. So still no need for the avcr really i guess. Any1 know how much after market solenoid go for? Interesting to see how a standard one would perform thou?

The Mac valve (Blue rectangle with 3 ports) costs $125.00 from Haltech. It works really well when controlled properly.

You know there is a plug in available from Haltech also that does all your boost control, anti-lag, launch control and lets you remove the AFM ?

It might be worth looking at the E11v2 plug in kit before deciding on an ECU

i am thinking about putting a wolf v500 into my 32 gtr (was going to put one on my old sil80) they come with (pretty sure, might have to buy) a patch loom so you don't have to hard wire it in if you don't want to. plus it has all the anti lag and map sensor jazz.
