Hi people. Im from a WRX background so I dont know much about the Nissans.

I am considering buying a R33 GTR in the new year.

Just curious what a R33 GTR with 300Kw at all 4 wheels would do the 1/4 mile in.

A WRX with that power would probably do low 11s and maybe even a high 10 depending on model.

Would the R33 GTR with the same power be near this?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments guys.

Very helpful. Agree totally. To get 300Kw out of a rex you have to spend heaps and also have everything done.

Im stoked that for under 30K I might be able to buy a R33 GTR and with a few mods be able to run an 11 and pretty easily by the way you guys are talking: ie: The motor will handle that power with ease.

Would you recommend buying one with the twin turbo set up (stockies) or one that has a big single turbo conversion?

I have owned a few wrx's, 2 sti's and a few GTR's . A stockish rex runs 13's and a stockish GTR runs 12's thats the difference . An 11 second wrx will break a gearbox or 2 ans 11 second GTR shouldn't .

My 34 with just GTSS's, exhaust , power f/c and ebc ( 1 bar boost) has run 11.8 @ 118 mph. I have run 12.2 @110mph on a stock 33 GTR with just exhaust and power f/c .

well my gtr has 235kw at all 4 wheels, ive only ran it once and i missed 3rd gear so i stuffed up there and i my boost is spiking from 7 to 13psi so it is not constant boost it is playing up because i dont have a boost control and it ran a 12.6@173km/h and dats on street tyres(17+9.5, 255/40/17) with about 40% tread and i did not have that little bush thing that goes under the gear stick that clicks into the gear box but all dat is now fixed but my mechanic says if u wil run a high 11 or even a flat 12,

my mates gtr had 254kw at the rear wheels and he ran a 11.98 pass in his r33 gtr so you will get a mad time if u have 300kw at 4 wheels, high 10s flat 11

Let me tell you high 10's don't came that easy mate , its a long way from high 11's to high 10's . You will need a lot more than 300 AWKW to do high 10's, if you have the power to do a high 10 ( over 350AWKW ) you will have a lot of wheelspin . High 11's are easy for a GTR with very mild mods .

High 11s is what Ill be after. I was going to buy another WRX but I think Ill be going for a R33 GTR for sure now.

With exhaust, upgraded front mount and a computer it sounds like the R33 will do an 11 with ease.

mate my mates car, i dont know if you know that car FENER, its always on the ignition dvd, its a yellow r32 gtr, he has 340rwkw and he got a 11.01 sec pass and that power is at the rear wheels, mate 300awkw should get a flat 11 is what im saying because if it gets into the high 11s or sumfn must not be a good driver or even the tune but if the car has 300awkw the tune should be pretty sweet unless the car can realy make more power but trust me mate 300awkw is a machine i dont know if you have been in 1 before but i have been in my mates 340rwkw gtr, neway good luck mate and yer you are rite a gtr with a apexi pfc, full exhaust, filtyers and after market cooler with about 14psi should get you into high 11s or a flat 12, cheers

I'm refering to a normal street car here NOT a lightened drag car or a rear drive car with drag slicks or drag radials...

I think I ought to know what I'm talking about as I have owned several GTRs and I still own a 34 that has 11.8 1'4 mile with very light mods. I still say a 300 AWKW STREET GTR ( not lightend in anyway ) will not get you a 10 second pass . Yes I have driven a series III R33 GTR with over 350AWKW ( true power not happy dyno power either ) , the car did a flat 11 at 129 mph , yes I could do a 10 in this car but never went back because I didn't want to put a roll cage in that car .

As for me not being a good driver... well that mabe so ... thats for others to say not me....all I can say is i have had a few 1/4 mile passes... in various model GTRS and a lot of other cars as well ...dare I say ( gussing here) a lot more than you ever had .

I will say this, the series III GTR with over 350rwkw was very hard to do a good 60ft ( 1.7 at best) , same car with less power ( around 300awkw, before she had the tomei stroker ) could do 1.6 60 ft with the same wheels tyres combo, R34 GTR rims and Tyo T1R's .

By the way you don't need pod filters on a 33 or 34 GTR, or aftermarket cooler with mild mods, like ECU, ebc and exhaust you can do a very high 11 @ 115 mph. As I said before my 34 M-spec ( the heaviest of all GTR's ) has a 11.8 pass ( or several for that matter) @118 mph. The only mods are : Full nismo exhaust, ebc,GTSS turbos ( only bacause I dont trust the stockers), Nismo injectors and HKS hard cooler pipping ( again because I dont trust the stock rubber pipes. Thats all the mods , no cooler and no pod filters .

I cant be bothored arguing here, you probably know about gtr more den i do but im telling ya, my mates gtr that had 254rwkw ran a 11.9 1/4 pass in his r33 gtr with slicks, the only mods to his car is, apexi pfc, fujitsubo cat back, filters and running 14psi that is it, no turbos, no injectors, no other stuff done to it, neway good luck with your car mate and at the end of the day you got the daddy (r34 gtr) lol cheers bud

And that's doable and has been done by others, 250rwkw running 11.9 even on street tyres. But to go from that to a 10.9 is big power difference. 300-350rwkw will be around mid 11's... You'd probably need 400 to break into a 10. But it all depends.

mate i never said from high 11 to high 10 is easy, i said one of my mates with a r33 gtr has 254rwkw ran an 11.9 and my uda mate with his yellow r32 gtr has 340rwkw ran a 11.01 so i dont know hwat you are going on about, 254rwkw and 340rwkw is a big difference but thats what i am trying to say, i never said high 11s to high 10s is easy and i dont know why everyone is going on about it, i said it earlier in the topic but the reply after that yous should read and see what i said, im assumin 300awkw will get him a flat 11 if he has a mad set of tyres on and he is a good driver, also about the traction because that will cop wheelspin left right and centre, anyways c ya later mate

    • Haha yea it's a bit of a weird setup at the moment, just wanted to make sure I sorted out any headaches before dyno day. At the moment I've changed the exhaust manifold, turbo and downpipe, 460lph fuel pump and rising rate reg as well as the previously mentioned headstuds and gasket. The nistune was already mapped for the car as it was and drove around for a few months no worries. The plan is to run flex fuel hence the big pump, which I've wired direct to the battery through a relay to avoid voltage issues.
    • Um. Was the ECU the same as the one previously there? I know R33's needed R32 GTST ECU's or other tomfoolery to run Nistune. This is such a wild setup. Most people would plumb in the turbo then not drive the car (i.e tow it to a tuner). What's actually changed since it last ran?
    • I'm a bit stuck with this one fellas, I recently decided to undertake a turbo conversion on my GTS-4, ended up pulling the motor to replace all the seals and do an mls head gasket and arp head studs while I was at it. Everything has gone according to plan, no oil or coolant leaks, compression checked out, and decided to give it a test before I book it in for a tune As it stands right now, the turbo only has oil lines plumbed so that I don't put boost into my untuned engine, and I'm using the factory GTS-T crossover pipe with a maf and poddy as a temporary intake. The car starts with relative ease and idles amazingly, however as the title suggests it really doesn't want to rev up, runs very smooth but almost feels choked out and unresponsive to the throttle, almost like it's running lean or something? I've triple checked my vacuum lines and timing with a timing light, injectors haven't been touched as of yet to avoid flooding the engine and worked perfectly beforehand, new plugs and coilpacks, I've even unbolted the cat just to see if it spontaneously collapsed, no dice The car currently has a nistune r32 gtst ecu installed so I have no way to check for fault codes. At this point I'm a bit stumped. Is this normal behaviour for a car with a turbo bolted onto the exhaust going nowhere? I'd imagine the turbo wouldn't cause this much restriction in the exhaust without the boost going through the intake. Any ideas? If necessary I can link a video of how it responds to full throttle while in neutral.
