hey mate

i watched the celia today... what understeer? looks like a whole lot of oversteer :P haha nah looks like it does really well around the track!

Yeh yeh i know what you mean, yeh turn one as you know can be a bit sideways, but we have just gone from 60 profile on a 14inch to a 50 profile on a 15 with a 4.3 Kaaz 2 way and our gear ratios were not quite right before on the 60 profile, so today we had to learn new gear change points!! Trusty 3sgte doesnt go too bad in a whale of a RA40, mind you it weight 1060ish with driver!!

I think half the problem today was people didn't really know who to look for?

Would it make things easier if next time I PM'd my number to everyone that was coming so everyone could know where we were?

Or maybe list distinguishing features of cars? or?

BOOSTD: Yeah, you really need to bring a jerry can or two full of fuel out with you. I'll be bringing two full ones with me from now on :) Probably a spare set of pads too :P

Oh and BIG thanks to Steve for organising all food and drink today, pity it didn't work out well...

yeah shame about that vac leak... I bet your knock sensors were working over time :P

watched you do a lot of laps... car doesnt look like its suffering from lack of spring rate or under dampering issues... it does look more to be a wheel alignment/tyre pressure issue, and maybe push the car a little harder into turn 1 :) FWIW theres minimal body roll on the car considering you were running semi's

lol yeh cheers for pointing that issue out, i didnt really look for any other issues as i noticed the vacuum line to the boost gauge gone straight away, and as much as i cable tied the bitch back together it kept blowing apart, hence in the end i just cable tied the end of the vacuum line to stop it from leaking. when it started choking again i just assumed it had failed like all my other attempts.

yeh wheel alignment is definately an issue, as much as i love the GB, the bushes with it just do not give you enough adjustment, after adjusting the castor rods to max, all i could get was like 6. the camber is another massive issue, will be going some proper arms, the bushes once again do not give enough adjustment and are frankly too friggin hard to play around with.

pressure was 30psi cold, wasnt sure what to run as they were technically a road tire. for the spring rates there is f**k all roll, but i wouldnt mind stepping up the spring rates and shock valving up just a tad, but for now its just not worth the $$ for me as im quite happy with it at the moment. for drift there is a bit too much kick back than id like, but once again for the spring rates its bloody impressive how little roll and kick back there is.

nah bs, and u know it. how much caster did david get again with his? :P

coincidence that both me and him got around 6 on both sides, on both of our cars?

not keen on rose joint rods, im gonna try and find an adjustable rod with a urethane bush.

oh and i was going as hard into turn one as possible, most times i ended near the outer apex with basically no grip left, that was all she had in her. line on the other hand i could probs work on.

not keen on rose joints?!

lol

my castor rods are tein items which are legal by regancy standards, and ive had them in my cefiro and my 32.. going 2 years strong, lots of thrashing, took them out the other day when i out the 33 arms in and they still felt brand new!!!

cant ask for much more then that.,...

yeh i dunno, reading some of gary's notes about them makes me less keen on them, and it all makes sense too. i mean if it comes down to it ill grab some but woudnt mind looking into the ones with bushes still.

I appologise to the guy with the BBQ. My tail lights failed on the track so I left before the bbq to beat traffic home. And i apologise to anyone driving behind me. :P

Was an absolute blast even thou i only got 10 laps in.

    • People still have Skylines? I thought they're non-existent now.
    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
    • They do that at random every now and then, with almost no detectable cause. Mine has done it a couple of times (over 25 years!!). Never worked out why.
    • I don't post on here and have been lurking for some time now. Many of the topics have helped me out more times than i can count. I was racing yesterday (11/9) and blew a front right CV shaft. I have spares so I popped a new one in. A thread i read previously said to check the engine mounts if you blow a front CV. Upon inspection, the front right mount was completely separated from the upper plate. This discovery saved me time and money, because i would have blown another CV if i went back out. Just wanted to thank you guys and wish everyone luck with with their builds. (Now if we could only come up with a solution for my power steering belt flying off after hitting the rev limiter, lol)
    • Either way he still need those style of spacer to go into the manifold because the photo he currently has is not going to work
